How would you define a "westerner", Stirling?

Mmmm...I suppose a base description would be those parts of the world that take their political and philosophical roots from the ancient Greco-Roman civilization.

Cultures that were affected by the renaissance and the age of reason that gradually grew from it.

Ok. So, Poland, for example, is included then as being in your view "our brothers".

Yes.

With the caveat that some brothers are closer than others....For example, America is pretty close as a 'brother' western nation and culture.

Sorry, you might have misunderstood me. Which laws have affected you negatively?

These laws affect how I wish to live. That is negative.

The metric system and a Euro we're not part of affect you negatively?

Yes.

The metric system reminds me that I not governed by laws decided by my own government.

The Euro crashing.....Was first and foremost the fault of the western banking system. However, the Euro was a currency that was inherently weak due to its inflexible nature.

It couldn't cope or survive any shocks...the rules our EU masters had set up saw to that and hence the Euro made the whole crash worse......By the way you aren't seriously suggesting that because we aren't apart of the Euro that its failure hasn't affected us financially...Even a simple understanding of economics would tell you that.

I was made redundant due to that crash.

Bear in mind the European Court of Human Rights has nothing whatsoever to do with the EU.The European Convention on Human Rights is the progenitor of our Human Rights Act.Was it wrong in your view that the UK signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights in 1950,including the European Court of Human Rights? Churchill, leader of the opposition Tories, was one of its most enthusiastic proponents.

....................................................

Stirling, the road to a more metric system started in 1971 with the switch to a metric currency, before we joined the EU,introduced by the then Conservative Government.Other countries like Australia realised it was a more sensible and logical system and began the switch (including weights) before us.

Really? The US? The Bible Belt, executions, inequality, guns, iniquitous foreign policy over many decades, etc.

Can think of plenty of nations ahead of them in the brotherly stakes.

Putting aside the inaccuracy regarding the metric system, in what way would leaving the EU fix these problems in your life?

I don't need to bear it in mind, I already knew it....Good old JamieMartin liked to say it regularly.

Yes, I don't agree with being a member of the European court of human rights.

Like I said, I believe that the highest court that a British citizen/subject should have access to should be a British one.

Would you apply the same logic to international war crimes tribunals should a British person be hauled before one in the future?

Blimey, the way you phase things Eric can be quite amusing.

I've explained in the posts where I disagree with these policies.

I don't know...off the top of my head....Mmmmm...Apart from the housing and infrastructure crises....The Euro not crashing might have kept me in my job.

The other aspects are more....I don't know....How should I say this....Against my political beliefs perhaps.
