It would appear that many of our supporters are clamouring for change, for a more attractive brand of football, but change on the managerial 'Throne' comes with risk and the 'Board' with commercial interests consider the 'Bigger picture'. When an experienced manager has provided PL security season on season, and of course many outside the club assert he guarantees survival, then why change? Leeds have only just returned to the PL having last played there in 2003-04, Nottm Forest's last season in the PL was 1998-99.One can spend a long time outside the top division with empty seats very much in evidence! Edited by Willo (12 Feb 2021 10.58am) Why does change come with risk? I would say persistence with the same manager comes with risk. I really do not understand this obsession with Roy being the only manager that can keep this team in the PL.

Mr Hodgson is proven in that he has kept us in the PL and it is likely that we will be in the PL again next season. On the balance of risk he is trusted to ensure PL survival. As you keep on saying and yet all of us watch this unadulterated crap week in and week out, complaining along the way (yourself included) but don’t think anything should be done about it. People don’t like change and are frightened of change, it’s as simple as that.

I'm in the Roy Out camp. Recent posts about Euro 2016 and the defeat to Iceland remind me that when we went 2-0 down, we never looked like getting back into it. Rashford was our best player but he only came on with about 6 minutes to go. How many similar performances have we seen at Palace? The writing has been on the way for three seasons now and it gets worse as each season go by.

I have always maintained that if Mr Hodgson departs, leaving a club to contest in the PL once more, there will be a degree of perturbance amongst quite a few of our supporters given his track record, but of course others will be delighted in the expectancy we will play free-flowing "High octane" football. Maybe matters will become clearer in the not too distant future! Edited by Willo (12 Feb 2021 12.12pm)

Playing a different style doesn’t necessarily mean moving from the sublime to the ridiculous. There are all manner of changes that a new manager can make including shape, transition, attacking tactics, early tactical substitutions, seeing different things in different players, having a different approach to youth, fitness regimes, the list is pretty endless. So just to say that fans want to see free flowing high octane football is not really fair on fans who are asking to see change.

Willo, is there any facet of Hodgson's management you would like to change? When Mr Hodgson was appointed I engaged in conversation with a few people and to a man they commented that he would guarantee PL survival with his experience and the manner he organises his teams. Of course we would all like to see free-flowing football played with energy and vigour but one has to have the players to play in this manner.I don't believe that Mr Hodgson is averse to an expansive game but he does like structure, shape, particular distances between the lines etc etc. He has been much criticised in recent times for the dour football served up to supporters but I cannot get away from the fact that we are left with a "Dad's Army" squad who are finding it particularly challenging as the advancement of years has coincided with an unusual season with fixture congestion on top of a limited pre-season. In the final analysis, despite a paltry 'Net spend' of

Of course different managers have different philosophies and live or die by results. The results under Mr Hodgson have ensured we are now in our 4th season in the PL under him and it is highly likely we will once again be in the PL next campaign.

I can only reiterate that Mr Hodgson might have reflected on numerous occasions that in hindsight he would have made different decision in terms of team selection, substitutes etc. Finally I do feel as though I am acting as Mr Hodgson's 'Defence lawyer' !
