The courts seemed to act on verbal petitions during parliament being peroged. Of course they didn't. They considered cases that were brought before them. That's what they do and all that they do.

The petition will unfortunately mean nothing. The only hope of seeing this report in any detail is if Boris, Priti, Cummings and Co want this to happen and are successful in bullying the home office to do so. I suspect at best there will be some form of heavy compromise eventually (like a heavily redacted / summarized report) so that the Tories can at least say they did what they said they would do.

I wonder if someone at the Home Office is searching through the report with a "Find a word and Replace" function.

They are selective in the outcome of their considerations though. If you mean they select what is legal from what is not then yes they are selective. That won't just apply to "Robinson's" case. It applies to all. The law is all that matters in a Courtroom. Everything else is for the politicians.

Whether "Robinson's" case will be heard in front of a Judge, Magistrates or a full jury, is unknown to me but Judges can direct juries on the law.

A lot of juries couldn’t understand the laws of noughts and crosses.
