Stirlingsays who do you think wins the election?
Tories or Labour?

The Tories will win easily and increase their majority.

What amazes me is that this is even in question.

With the greatest respect, you are talking nonsense.

There has never been a time in British history when so many have enjoyed a comfortable existence as they do now.

You need to do more research.

My grandparents did. My parents did.
Both could afford a home. Both had jobs.
I guess yours did too?

Why do facts upset you so much?

I shouldn't mock I know....but I'm going to enjoy the day after the election on here.

It'll be closer than you think.

I will concede that there is an issue with the housing boom which makes getting on the first rung hard for many. A lot of first time buyers rely on the bank of mum and dad.

Most people have jobs now if they want one and unemployment was far worse in the 70's and 80's.

Before we had mass immigration, there was an employment shortage in the 50's and 60's which meant jobs were easier to come by.

All of these phases have been relatively short term and do not alter the fact that standards of living have been on an upward curve. You have to look at the average and not individual circumstances or short term fluctuations.

Young people understandably feel they are losing any stake in the current scheme of things. crippling debt for a university education, relatively poor wages, no prospect of home ownership, poor pension provision. It leads to social problems and lack of any spirit of citizenship.

I actually agree with you for once Nick. I'll be surprised if the allocation of seats actually changes much. I think the Tory campaign has been abysmal, the worst I can remember. Labour, apart from the Diane Abbott melt down, have been much better. Just hope we don't get a coalition of the so called progressives, which would of course usher in all the economic problems wrongly predicted for Brexit, as well as shackling us to all the EU crap that the progressives value so much.

For me, the saddest thing is that yourself and 'Stirling', two bright lads in a world full of divs, cannot see beyond 'party colours' despite things being far worse for our children than they ever were for us.

Oh well.

Speaking with someone who is a forensic accountant yesterday at the beer festival they mentioned the Tory faintest of pledge to basically scrap the serious fraud office and move its role over to the NCA. The SFO is independent and specialises in investigating and prosecuting financial crime. The move is retrograde and politically motivated to give Whitehall more control and law enforcement less scope to deal with these kind of crimes. Crimes perpetrated by bankers, tycoons and their ilk. Tory donors in other words. Another pledge that only makes us worse off as a society and is driven by ideology rather than evidence. Much like grammar schools.
