Edited by legaleagle (07 Apr 2015 11.17am) I'd love to see a pro-UKIP response to this as the Norway/Swtizerland paradigm is a key argument for them as seen above.
Governments are frequently pro EU for ideological and sometimes gravy train reasons....I remember Norway's government being pretty disappointed by losing their EU vote.....But the reality is that a majority in the population don't want to lose sovereignty...Especially when they hold such a large pool of natural resourcss and such a relatively small population.....There's a reason that Norway is one of the best places to live in the world....Imagine what the Euro would have done to them. Anyway I remember Norway voting against joining the union.....You know, a proper vote on losing national sovereignty like real democracies would do......Britain's whole relationship with the modern EU is a tale of pro EU lick ups telling lies and falsehoods and pushing false representations to the 'undecided' in the electorates...You know...Same day, same s***...My mother told me about how the common market was pushed to her...About how the pro camp had said the no camp were lying about it being a slippy slope to losing sovereignty......liars. If those people who voted yes had known that the elites would allow the EU to change so much from that common market entry point and yet deny them a vote on it....I doubt the yes camp would have won....Since that vote the country has had a serious breach of trust on what has been quite serious poolings of sovereignty to the EU. Both Thatcher and Brown signed up to documents that really should have been subject to referendums.

Financially Britain is one of only three net contributors to the EU.....That's how much of a joke the EU is economically. The idea that the EU could actually afford to let Britain go is laughable.....It's the pride of the federalists who like to waffle about how the EU could cope......Not how it is now it couldn't. I mean look at the desperate reactions of Germany and the practical refusal to let Greece go....Even though it probably could be done.....Italy and Spain are so close to the brink that the market confidence loss would lead directly to another collapse. Unless Britain is truly prepared to actually leave the federalists in the EU (and here) aren't willing to give up their dream...even partially of one state. Many of them still think like teenage 'one world government' dreamers.....nodding their head to Lennon's imagine lyrics. The road to hell.

Literally all of that has nothing to do with what I asked about Norway and Switzerland having freedom of movement. Edited by EricYoung'sSweatBand (07 Apr 2015 2.57pm)

Anyway it does indirectly answer it. The government are pro but the population aren't....Same as here.

You really haven't answered - directly or indirectly. Why are Norway and Switzerland seen as beacons of what we could achieve when they both currently have the one thing Kippers don't want: Freedom of movement? Out of curiosity, aside from freedom of movement, which laws that have been passed since we have been members of the EU have affected you negatively?

Ok, so other than the freedom of movement and the problems related to it....I suppose: The common agriculture policy....keeps France's farmers ok whilst restricting third world farming trade. EU foreigners fishing in our seas....I don't agree with that also. I want to live under a British human rights act, not a European one. I also don't like the highest court being a European one....I think a British citizen/subject's highest legal recourse should be a British one. The lack of representation....I didn't ask for EU politicians setting laws that I have to abide by and that right to have a say in your rulers has been taken away from me.....The lack of democracy in general. The metric system....It's a better system than the imperial system that frankly that's not the point. I like my feet and inches ounces and pounds and I don't like being forced to also see another system.....Shop keepers should be allowed to choose which one they use instead of being forced to also use metric. The Euro....The crazy love affair the federalists had with us joining this currency....The tales of doom we were sold....It annoys me.....How does it affect me now....Well by existing in its current form it makes a successful growing EU impossible....Instead it just keeps Germany strong and the poorer reliant countries poor......Contrary to stereotypes, being opposed to the EU how it is doesn't mean you wish ill on European countries....Quite the opposite, they are westerners and hence our brothers.

Sorry, you might have misunderstood me. Which laws have affected you negatively?

Cultures that were affected by the renaissance and the age of reason that gradually grew from it.
