Remainers will still get blamed somehow. It started ages ago with the ‘talking the country down’ b*llocks. The EU has been made a bogeyman for all this country’s domestic ills and now there’s nothing to hide behind. As opposed to just blaming the Tories? You are negative and just so yesterday.

The EU has been made a bogeyman for all this country’s domestic ills and now there’s nothing to hide behind. To be fair, it is only the Remoaners that many of us have issues with, not Remainers. There was nothing wrong with voting Remain on June 23rd. It is the failure to accept that outcome and then try and have the result ignored that has angered many of us. But you are right about not having the EU to hide behind anymore. There are no more excuses and hopefully that is at the forefront of the minds of the people sitting down to deal with the EU. Personally I hope we approach this next stage assuming that no deal is achievable. If we can thrash out something then fine but all preparations must be based on an assumption that the EU is a hostile body whose only logical course of action, to save its own neck, is to try and effectively strangle us. That is fine, it has to do what it has to do but that does not mean we have to make it easy for them. We can not only survive but thrive outside of the EU and we simply cannot allow it to keep its tentacles wrapped around us.

So much salt on this thread. You've had well over 3 years to reach the "acceptance" stage of the faux EU-grieving process. Funny how when EU election turnouts were epically low (particularly in the youth demographic), you lot weren't ranting maniacally about the virtues of this "wonder-club". I have hated the EU ever since I was politically sentient. With a passion. This is the culmination of a 3-decade personal journey of loathing and revulsion in how they conduct themselves in a bid to ratchet ever more power, ever more control and ever closer union. It is a monumental and momentous day - Brexit has been delivered. As per the ballot paper's question, we are no longer members of the EU. The next phase is not "Brexit", despite desperate attempts to re-frame the debate, WE. ARE. OUT. I suggest we finally lock this thread.

YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN: Naval Party 1022: A Royal Navy repair and logistics support facility at Sembawang wharf in Singapore support of the Five Power Defence Arrangements. IF YOU BOTHERED TO CHECK CORRECTLY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE MADE SUSH A STUPID STATEMENT. I have been to Singapore both as a serving Marine and as a Civvy the last time being 18 months ago when we did our visit to our daughters grave at Kranji War Cemetery which we do every couple of years. I know that I said I would not reply to your useless posts again but after reading this bulls*** about Singapore I could not help but pick you up on it. I sometimes wonder where you get all this bulls*** from to be honest. Love this, about time someone called him out on his bulls***.

When I talk of "struggling to assert" ourselves I am not talking militarily but economically. Even militarily we are hardly a world power these days. I was in Singapore a year or two ago and spent time with the head of our armed forces there. Sounds impressive? Not really. Guess how many people we have there now? Just 3! 2 of them are civilian administrators. Their only function is to provide bunkering facilities for the occasional visits by British warships. Impressive! Having nuclear submarines will deter an attack by another nuclear power but it won't help negotiate trade deals or build a manufacturing or service industry. In the internet age having an ocean next to us makes no difference at all. This is a joke right? Why would anyone involved with the armed forces tell you their military capacity in the region? I would not expect them too. So maybe, just maybe, you don't know it all
