No to both. The first was a cave in to the nationalists. If we are to consider breaking up the UK then everyone in the UK ought to be able to decide and the only people who should do that are our representatives in Parliament. If we held an advisory UK wide national referendum on the issue which returned a greater than 2/3rds majority of registered voters in favour of the proposed change then I believe it would be difficult for any Parliament not to act. That though ought to be the only way such a huge constitutional change is made. The second is simply no. If in 50 years from now we follow the path above then that would be acceptable. Until then we stay as we are.
That said you do seem to advocate MP’s making the decisions and has been pointed out the MP representation is now sufficient to deliver Brexit. Has it occurred that maybe the electorate is tired of MP’s not representing their wishes or delivering their requests. More constituencies voted leave than remain, yet more MP’s voted against delivering. I know two of my local candidates who didn’t get in, I wouldn’t trust them to run a bath unsupervised. Election before last Labour put up a 23 year old activist who had been to uni then worked for a left-wing think tank. What in the blue blazes of holy s*** does she know about the real world? I suspect had the majority of MP’s been in favour of Brexit and the majority of the electorate not then your views would be different. But then again, unlike you I’m just one of the gullible morons who needs people like you to put me right.

As has been said on numerous times on this forum. Once Blair gave the UK compact (except the English) their own parliaments the timer on the UK became an inevitability. It's obvious, it's a matter of time.....Get use to it. The whole 'British' brand is nothing but a construct anyway that in modern terms has lost its meaning. As for Johnson and the possibility of the Tories being 'far right'. God, if only. 'Certain types' of political activists always lie about the 'far right'. When you're as far to the left as they are (even though some lie about it) then anything that looks like the Tory party of Thatcher's era is suddenly 'far right'. Like I've said plenty of times. I'll gladly show you 'far right' mate and I'm probably on the left of that particular movement....which doesn't call itself 'far right' anyway....the 'dissident right' is a more accurate term. Some people just live in cloud cuckoo land. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Jan 2020 11.31pm)

If the Bank of England are contemplating cutting the already low interest rates even further that's a pretty strong indicator that there are problems ahead, despite all the cheerleading that the right wing, Brexit enthusiastic, media are doing. If the opposite happens and we get an even further right wing government, a no deal Brexit and throw ourselves onto Trump's lap whilst begging for scraps then I see the UK breaking up as a consequence, in a few years time. That's hardly us "doing great" is it? To match the ZIRP/NIRP that we've seen in your beloved EU for a long while now? Interesting. And yes, there's plenty of trouble ahead. And yeah, take the time to watch The Big Short. It shows exactly how the system works and exactly who bloody benefits. *Spoiler alert*........It isn't me, you or any of those who follow.

The 'Big Short' was excellent but it only told the politically correct version. It ignored the truth that the banks were forced by 'diversity' laws enacted by Clinton to enable unsafe loans. That was a factor it completely ignored for obvious reasons. Sure Banks don't give a feck about anything other than making money by any means possible....but they aren't stupid either, the system is a political construct, not a purely meritocratic one.

Half and half scarves in the EU parliament as we leave. As if we needed a clearer vindication of our decision to Brexit.... ...and thank f*** we are. [Tweet Link]

For those who think minting a coin and Nigel having a little party is over celebrating. Apparently many pro EU British MEPs were in tears yesterday, I can believe it waving goodbye to all that luxury and tax free benefits I'd be crying...

Well that's it folks, well done brexiteers. An EU army! Surely not, Wissie has said it is not being considered, another lie by our Nige? Or is it Wissie doesn’t actually know everything? Wissie May think they embarrassed us, I don’t, the home truths struck a chord and the unelected bureaucrats didn’t like it. Personally I thought the EU embarrassed themselves

The remain remourners have been throwing fits over the British flag waving yesterday. Deborah Meaden talking about however we came across after they showed us warmth and dignity. Have to laugh. Has she been asleep for the last few years or does she live like Tom and Barbara Good of Surbiton while stocks home before stepping into her chauffeur driven car?

Personally I thought the EU embarrassed themselves The EU Army point has been covered off multiple times on this thread as a red herring, it’s simply used for point scoring and galvanising an impressionable voter base - I do wish people would actually read the facts rather than take any old political statements as verbatim, an irony considering the frequency they deride others opposite to their position for talking nonsense
