We import two thirds of all our cheese. That... is... a... disgrace. You did forget to mention she has also porked the markets.

The Tories won large in 2019 on the back of getting Brexit done....Now four remainers head the top posts of the party. Here Farage suggests that this could be an SDP moment for the Tories and suggests he would be a part of a breakaway party if some big hitters broke away. [Tweet Link]

Events necessitate change. If your priorities change, so must your policies. You would criticise Vieira if after going 2-0 down in a game in which he had maximised defence in the pursuit of a point, he then didn't change strategy and hoped to just to lose 2-0. There's a right time and a wrong time to do most things. A general tightening of immigration when we have a skills shortage makes no sense. The NHS, for instance, is currently recruiting from abroad very heavily. More than people can ever remember. I feel sure the NHS's need is not isolated and to respond makes sense. Doing all we can to control illegal immigration is a totally different issue. Which could be much helped by a better relationship with the EU, which is hampered by the attitude of people like you. Can’t agree about controlling illegal immigration. It was spiralling before we left the EU. You may believe we had a strong working relationship with the EU over Immigration but, you shouldn’t believe all you read. From my first hand experience it wasn’t as good as it should have been . Despite Dublin convention it was virtually impossible to get other countries to accept removals.

I always wondered what life would be like in an anarchist state. Well looks like now I know, with a government so obsessed with fighting itself to actually do anything. With members being pushed through the lobbies and if rumour is true a Prime Minister not voting for one of her own policies. Tory and Labour are both fractured parties but right now the Tory party is having its war between the factions both very publically and in a very brutal self centred way. They are clinging onto ower simply because they can and without it they will right now drop into the political abyss. This has been coming since David Cameron called the Brexit vote he expected to win, then walked away when he lost it leaving division in its wake. Right now events are changing almost hourly and one the one hand it is fascinating but equally it is slowly ripping the nation apart.

Very confusing this morning. The BBC says she resigned over a technical error misusing her personal email. The rest of the media say she was sacked because she had a row with Truss. I think Braverman went because Truss and her Remainer cohorts will not implement the policies that Tories voted for at the GE, specifically but not exclusively getting control of immigration. I think Braverman has distanced herself from this shower of **** she will be back when the Tory party finally realise they are not New Labour.

I see this morning that GMTV are already attacking the next incumbent and they don't even know who it is yet. All politicians are a bunch of tw@ts, but this has all become a game for the media, to see who can catch someone out. If anyone sees that Susanna Reid at the Palace, can they give her a kick up the c*nt for me. Edited by martin2412 (20 Oct 2022 9.32am)

Despite Dublin convention it was virtually impossible to get other countries to accept removals. I don't disagree with any of that. The problem has existed for some time and our working arrangements with other EU countries was never good, but Brexit has worsened it as it has got markedly worse. I don't doubt that finding solutions would still be difficult if were still in, but they ought to be easier to find, especially in the way to tackle the smuggling gangs. So no magic pills but anything that helps is better than something which makes it worse.
