This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Why would he? If he says he's staying and eventually gets sold for £80m then he'll look like a liar. If he says he's going and Arsenal never meet his valuation then he looks like he's turned his back on the club and has to stick around. All the 'fans' that have turned their back on someone who has given an amazing service to this club should hang their heads in shame. Exactly. He's shown loyalty to us and we should return the favour rather than buying into every rumour and whisper going.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Why Should he? The closest I've seen is from his Brother. In any case, he may want to go - and he deserves it. My point is that if he doesn't, don't disrespect him by thinking that he's gonna sulk his way to January. 100% agree. I don't think it's right to disrespect someone who is being given the opportunity to potentially better themselves professionally.

Exactly. He's shown loyalty to us and we should return the favour rather than buying into every rumour and whisper going. Buying into every rumour, what are you on about? He's the one doing interviews stating he wants champions League football and his brother/agent wannabe is the one begging palace to let him leave for Arsenal (his boyhood club, apparently). These aren't rumours, they're truths. He wants to leave, preferably Arsenal.

I want every player in our team to have the ambition to play Champions League football. Yes, his brother's a div and should have kept his mouth shut but I see nothing wrong with a player stating he has ambitions to play at the highest possible level. I can only assume the people on here that are saying how terrible it is that he would suggest he wants to play at that level have had the same job at the same company as their first ever job in gratitude for taking a risk on a young paperboy? As long as he gives us his all whilst he's in a Palace shirt, I couldn't care less. If we sell him, it's on our terms but there's nothing wrong with him wanting a move to better his career. People should be more annoyed that someone like Benteke is going to run his contract down this year and leave on a free when we could have got some money for him going to China, instead we're lumbered with a £100k a week poor mans Emile Heskey.

Precisely. It's the nature of the game that players put the feelers out and have aspirations within the sport. They likely wouldn't even be where they are today if they didn't have that mindset. It's not a default indication of being 'disloyal'. I still say he's been very loyal to the club and as you say, if the situation changes and its on the clubs terms then it is what it is.

You're correct, but with a caveat: It's all fair and well to be ambitious. We all agree that it's great when one of our own go on to better things (AWB for example) but there's a respectful way to do it.

We all agree that it's great when one of our own go on to better things (AWB for example) but there's a respectful way to do it. If the rumours are to be believed, Zaha signed a 5 year deal so that Parish could maximise his sale value. Yes, he got a pay increase as well but we get a valuable player tied down where we have more opportunity to ask for a large fee. The rumour is that Parish said he could leave at some point (timing unknown) in exchange for signing the long contract. So in short, the deal suits both parties. This will probably only fail from Wilfs perspective if no-one (I presume Arsenal in particular) offers a suitable amount of money for his services.
