Does anyone think with the fixtures being announced tomorrow the new manager might be announced then for a little added spice. Yeah and maybe it'll be Henry `Gerry Ryan' Hughton. That'll add some paprika to the seaweed breakfast extravaganza big time.

From Sam retiring to Silva going to Watford, was about four days. In theory, we could have jumped in and tried to steal him, but that would have been a massive risk as it would have been impossible to go through all the due diligence normally involved with hiring a manager and interviews in that time.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Agreed as long as Steve wanted him, after he got over the shock of Sam retiring.

I'm pretty sure Southampton have a bigger and better team of staff related to transfers, including a director of football.
This club spent a lot of money of this which is why SP needs to wake up and sort stuff like this out we are so far behind no excuses anymore been in Prem for 5 seasons.

I'm not saying I wanted Silva, but I don't see why SP had to go to Majorca on his hols when we need to get a manager in place. There's certainly no reason why he needed to be there to sort out Zaha's deal - that could have been done in SE25. I'm sure it was a great atmosphere to get the Wilf deal done. Majestic move to sort it out over there rather than in south London. Obviously worked a treat!

Yes finished in a respectable 8th position but they only won 4 league games after the FA Cup final so this is a biot of a 'Negative' for Puel. Also they finished 6th previous season under Koeman. But I agree 8th place and an FA Cup final appearance isn't too bad at all !

No, I'm sure he's got a place out there and is probably there a lot of the year and keeps in regular contact with the club, but I still feel that he should perhaps have been in the UK to try and get a new manager sorted out. Three weeks on from Sam leaving and we seem no closer to a replacement. Probably because as I have said on another thread, a suitable candidate has yet to present themselves. Or they have now and they are now going through the necessary checks and due diligence. Nothing to do with SP taking a well earned break. He was only in the Broadsheets recently saying how the pressure of running a PL club is almost unbearable. He obviously needed to get away from it all for a week or so and it hasn't changed the landscape in regards to hiring a manager any quicker one bit.
