Minting a new 50p coin for Brexit, nice idea and nice sentiments.

I think his analysis of what is going on in the EU is spot on. Whilst I like his comments about our future I think he does lay it on a bit thick as we don't really know what will happen, never the less I applaud his optimism.

Anyway I think some in the EU are starting to do some soul searching.

TYpical Mail misrepresentation!

The author is NOT the editor of Bild. He is actually a German aristocrat who writes opinion pieces for the paper and the view expressed is his and not that of the paper itself. Although the Mail, or the other Brexit cheerleaders wouldn't bother with that little detail.

It is hardly very surprising that the "the current head of the comital branch of the princely House of Schönburg" is as strongly against the EU as this guy is and writes a piece that could have come from anyone on the right anywhere in Europe.

That such views exist isn't news. Winding up the electorate happens in every country, not just the UK.

The piece. of course, misses completely any reference at all as to one of the primary reasons why the EU exists and is such a vital bulwark for us in today's world. There is not one word about security and a resurgent Russia. It simply attacks social democracy as a principle.

Or it could be a joke.

It might have started that way but go on any Trump supporting site and the people there really believe it. So do people like Alex Jones! So it really isn't funny anymore. Is is how some people now get their "news" and it's a very obvious example of how lies become the truth in some people's minds.

Any of the special 50p "Brexit celebration" coins that come into my possession will be kept and exchanged for Euros on my next visit. Seems the least I ought to do.

I heard a variety of other suggestions as what could be appropriate uses for them at a party I was at last night. Most were too rude to share here and anatomically improbable anyway.

As for the rest that will happen as soon as the planes stop flying on the 31 Jan.

Not that we'll notice as we'll all be glued to Sky Sports to see if we have made any last minute signings

My predictions for five years time are that Wisbech Eagle will still be moaning on and telling us what a disaster it all is and Pussay Patrol will have been banned for the sixtieth time

Presumably none from Europe though, as they won’t be able to travel here and the sky will have fallen in

The wines were particularly nice last evening as was the company and the conversation. Some of us are managing to find some black humour in all this silly triumphalism.
