By my reckoning, today is the day when our departure on January 31st is now merely a matter of course. Phew. Been a long old journey and by my reckoning not truly done and dusted until this transition period is over but as of 11pm, on the 31st, one less star on that s***ty flag. Feels like an age since I started a thread on the BBS about the referendum that had to follow Cameron's election in 2015 and I end it all on here. LOL. Cowardly b******s never had the guts to inform I was banned and I even considered a couple of them as good friends. Oh well, you live and learn. The first and last time I will ever mention that place on here but it felt right to do so today. Because this is it. Perhaps I am wrong and baring some Black Swan type event between now and Friday week I cannot see any more twists and turns but we are finally becoming free of decades of seeing our sovereignty eroded. How it all pans out I genuinely do not know. But it has happened and democracy has (barely) made it through. No faith in Johnson but there is a certain amount of schadenfreude to be relished in knowing that those who most vocally opposed our not only leaving but then sort to trample all over the vote on June 23rd will have been distraught to see the process end up with him enjoying a huge majority along with them being shown up for the morons they truly are. Because anybody who thought a second referendum would go down well with the British public despite the constituency break down of both the Brexit vote and then the last ever EU elections held in 2019 deserve nothing other than our contempt for their lack of basic understanding of how our electoral system works.

That clearly includes you then doesn't it! As soon as Cameron called the referendum our electoral system stopped working as it has always has before. Yes, we will start the next phase of our withdrawal on the 31st and doubtless some people will be celebrating. Others though won't be. They will be planning and preparing for the day when common sense returns and the green fields of change are shown to be barren and we are ready to return to the bosom of our European family. How long we stay in the wilderness is unknown but return we will. You can count on it. Relegation is only ever an opportunity to rebuild and return refreshed and more determined than ever.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Rather depends on your opinion of European bosoms.

Rather depends on your opinion of European bosoms. Always been rather partial to them. I blame BBC2. When I was a young chap one of the few chances to glimpse a naked breast or two was courtesy of the subtitled films it would show on a Saturday night. Piquing my curiosity in a number of ways and even to this day I must be C4'Walter Presents' best customer in the UK. I love me a subtitle. But these R2's still don't quite seem able to understand how we can love our European friends ( I even married one ) whilst loathing the institution that is the EU. Personally I see no point in ever venturing outside of European territorial waters given that almost any and everything I value in terms of art, culture and history exists in huge abundance within its realms whilst being nothing other than disgusted with how the EU acts, seeing many of its ideals such as the loathesome single currency inflicting untold heartbreak and misery on millions. What has happened to Greece and a lesser extent Italy is beyond horrendous. And lets not even start on the brutality by the French Police against the Yellow Jackets that is ignored because Macron is an EU bitchboy. And still to R2's, it is us on the Brexit side who hate Europeans? No. I want them to be as free as we will be and the day the EU Parliaments in Brussels and Strasbourg are razed to the ground I will indulge in the finest meze of European cuisines I can.
