It's extraordinary that the Conservatives have gone from a huge majority to an existential next general election.

And why I smell a huge rat. That majority means that a Government should be always able to function. Even if it is just in neutral, it has the votes.

But now? Apparently, the party communications system has collapsed with nothing coming out making any sense. Its as though they have collectively lost their minds? And to what ends? These are career politicians. This stuff does not happen, especially to the most successful political party in the Western world. You don't go from being this well-oiled machine that waltzes to an 80-seat majority, having already been in Government for the best part of 10 years, to this in less than 3 years, even with Covid and Brexit.

I accept I can too easily reach for the tin-foil hat at times, and to be honest rather enjoy looking for shenanigans where there are none but this...

This is something else.

'What the world is thinking about UK turmoil'.

After todays extraordinary scenes 'not a lot' I would suggest.

A general election surely, it can't go on like this.

Truss and Hunt have zero legitimacy yet they preside over us, our system is fundamentally flawed.

Friends of Suella Braverman have explained the events that led up to her resignation
"By accident, she sent a non-sensitive official document to another MP - she was trying to promote the Government's shared immigration policy," they say:

"She sent it from her phone and used her private email by mistake. This such a trivial thing and would have been nothing, but she also copied in someone else by mistake and that person works for another backbench MP."

The other MP then complained to the chief whip, the Cabinet Secretary Simon Case and Liz Truss

"So Liz calls in Suella with Canzini there. Liz says 'If you stay we'll have to defend you and it will salami slice our credibility'. Suella thought 'are you serious, you're not even going defend anyone over anything?' She said fine, if you won't stand up for me I'll go."

Suella Braverman's allies say that there had been disagreements with the Prime Minister over the direction of the Government's immigration policy.
"Suella and Liz have been having a huge row over immigration," they said.

"Suella was told we have to increase immigration or it will cost us loads of money and the OBR won't be happy. Suella said this is insane, why are we trying to appease to OBR? Is everything getting thrown out the window?"

This goes against the manifesto in reducing immigration and protecting borders.

No one person "runs" the free world!

There have been times when certain US Presidents captured the world's attention and demonstrated values that were admired. At least by most. Kennedy and Obama being the obvious examples.

Then there have been others who captured the world's attention and achieved the opposite. Nixon and Trump being the obvious examples.

Biden doesn't fall into either of those categories, but the USA as a whole still leads the free world. Something that it was trying to abdicate with the previous incumbent.

Events necessitate change. If your priorities change, so must your policies.

You would criticise Vieira if after going 2-0 down in a game in which he had maximised defence in the pursuit of a point, he then didn't change strategy and hoped to just to lose 2-0.

There's a right time and a wrong time to do most things. A general tightening of immigration when we have a skills shortage makes no sense. The NHS, for instance, is currently recruiting from abroad very heavily. More than people can ever remember. I feel sure the NHS's need is not isolated and to respond makes sense.

Doing all we can to control illegal immigration is a totally different issue. Which could be much helped by a better relationship with the EU, which is hampered by the attitude of people like you.

There might be a leader though.
