The question was not impertinent in any way. If there are rumours that players are coming in or out of a club journalists are entitled to use a press conference to ask a club’s manager if they are true or not. That way the likes of you and I become better informed about what’s happening. As for being on Roy’s back, I think you’ll find I’ve consistently supported him on this forum but that does not mean I have to think everything he says and does is perfect! quote=Tim Gypsy Hill '64;3502275] Or maybe an exasperated response to an impertinent question? He explained why he doesn't want to loan CB out. You may not agree with him, but get off the manager's back! He has the team in 9th place FFS!

You really are very naive... quote=EddieMac;3502324] Roy was more annoyed with the fact that the story was even in the press in the first place and he has every right to be. It is an absolute garbage story like 99 percent of the s***e printed in those rag newspapers. It has been the same with the made up transfer interest in Wilf and City supposedly chasing Guita which is garbage. In my opinion Roy just has pain in his face with lying journalists.

Roy obviously thinks he can "turn the corner" under his tutelage. However it has been so long since he has shown anything in front of goal you have to wonder what thinking processes are going on in Roy's head as clearly he hasn't been able to do this under him ? Surely best for all parties to part so Roy can work with another striker ? Could Roy’s positivity be anything to do with Big Ben now having some proper competition? Just being a little cynical!

Surely he will offer something that many teams need at the moment. Either we want too much or clubs must look at him as damaged goods now. IMO he probably needs a change of scenery. But I can't see us being able to get rid.

Apparently we want £10M for him. That gives us half a chance to sell him in this window. His salary alone will be another £3M by the summer.

I think that either him or Connor will be leaving on either loan or permanent transfer. Personally I think it will be big Ben to Villa. They will probably pay no loan fee but 100% of his wages plus a big bonus (£1 million plus) if they stay up.

Its not Villa, they picked up Samatta. Seems to be a shortage of strikers around, Spurs, Chelsea, Athletico, West Ham - hopefully the knock on effect generates a deal for tekkers somewhere down the line.

In terms of the upside of getting his contract off the books, I'd rather Pierrick and even Sorloth were ahead of him as well. At least there's a chance they could progress (yes that's an outside chance on Sorloth). Edited by samprior (21 Jan 2020 12.25pm)

If today's news is to be believed villa interested in benteke but might find it hard to prise him away from us due to our lack of firepower What does he contribute to our firepower and why aren't we agreeing his release certainly on loan as wages only to summer would save 3 m allegedly or at least some of it and if he's a success as before at villa his value will rise Think it's a no brainer

Saw the game against Sheffield United. At the start VB was looking interested and winning the ball. Towards the end I saw the familiar lone figure wondering what he should do next. In that state he can be, and is, ignored by opposing players. While there will be instances of his giving effort without reward, he needs to be seen as having, and using, the ability to be in action for the team more often.
