The people here are all really lovely, in my own experience anyway. I am sure there is a smattering of nutjobs but I have never encountered them. I play bowls and the club is split between "incomers" and locals and it's very harmonious.

Some support the Welsh team on the rugby field, because of the Celtic connection, and some keep Cornish traditions like "Wrasslin" alive.

I had to deal with the Town Councillors in Camborne a few years ago. The Council there is run by Mebyon Kernow which believes in Cornish nationalism. I had to make a presentation to them on a building project in the town which proposed quite significant changes. I was concerned on how they would react but they were more than helpful. They were polite, encouraging and supportive.

My views on the EU are shared by many here. My local County Councillor, who I know quite well, is an ardent enthusiast for the EU and knows how important their contributions have been to various developments here, and worries greatly what happens next.

Not all, of course. As elsewhere it seems most of the older people want Brexit, whilst most of the young don't. As we have a more than usual proportion of the elderly here you can imagine where the balance falls.

Interesting, thanks for the response.

Good advice, hard to stick to, but the better option.

You lose one tedious twit and you always get another.
Steeleye went to the BBS (thank god) and now we have the man who preaches his vision for 21st century Britain from a pub in deepest Cornwall.

I have got bored with fencing with these idiots. They live in a delusion that won't end till they snuff it.

Plenty of fencing work in Cornwall. Not badly paid either, although the weather can be a bit off putting at times. Doesn't require particularly high intellectual capacities so you should be OK.

I am off to the pub tonight but I never do any preaching there. Too busy having fun, eating, drinking and playing pool.

As usual spot on Hrolf.

Steely could be funny and we thought he could take a robust environment. But in the end he ended up going the same way as the rest of the tarts.

Not that sort of pub. I am just back from there. 2 pints is enough for me. We had a nice meal too.

It's a friendly, family oriented, village pub that serves great food and is deservedly very popular.

You wouldn't, I am 100% certain, recognise me from my persona here. I am an uncontroversial and, with all due modesty, pretty popular, figure in the locality. Very few know anything about my political views. Time and place etc!

You are very welcome.

Always happy to provide what I can to those who make genuine, polite, requests.

It's a refreshing change here.

I like him. Hopefully he'll return one day.

Someone with a more limited level of intelligence no doubt. Although most of the locals have now been driven out of Cornwall or left to rot so perhaps not.

That's not actually true. Whilst a few have moved out, as they do everywhere, the primary reason was a lack of higher education opportunities. These have been aggressively addressed, often with EU money funding it, so that we now have some excellent facilities.

With the quality of life here so good many folk put a high value on staying here. Many try elsewhere for a while but drift back.
