They should make it a FA Premier League regulation that all EPL players have to represent themselves and not allowed to have an agent. Now this would be an amazing law! I feel like people are usually excellent at football or excellent at contract law but rarely both.

If Benteke really wants to come here he should sack his agent because its probably him haggling over his cut thats holding things up

The fact is that none of us are privy to how transfer deals actually work these days. I see some dealings that look similar to how we buy and sell houses - i.e. there is a chain. Everton are in for Bolasie bankrolled by the money they got from Man City for Stones. In turn, we are using the incoming funds from selling Bolasie to buy Benteke. And just like house purchases, none of these transactions are cash up front. So trying to structure these deals becomes complex, especially when you consider that both Everton and Palace are involved in other deals - Williams in Everton's case. Also factor in that Fenway Sports are notoriously tough negotiators. It's frustrating, but it is what it is. It's never a done deal until you see your new signing wearing the shirt in the usual w*** photo. I still think Benteke will sign.

Regardless of the sale of YB.

The home and away season starts on Saturday and we don't have Benteke. Why? To save a few quid. Pardew's comment about nothing being done until this weekend reeks of Palace trying to save a few quid in Benteke's wages. We should have had Benteke in the squad three weeks ago and ready to rumble. We better win against West Brom. Pardew can't blame agents for holding out for as much as they can when we do it all the time. Whatever we end up paying for Benteke we will lose his services for possible 3 of the 40 matches we need to get points from - THAT'S not good business. We don't need a poor start to the season where we're languishing amongst the bottom 2 or 3 and where after a few weeks the mindset that we're getting relegated sets in hard, the supporters, club, players start disbelieving in themselves, we end up talking about a new manager, and like last season's second half you just can't shake off the negative voodoo. And why? To save a few bob... Idiots.
