Socialism as a concept? Maybe

However Corbyn and Momentum have spent the last 3 months distancing themselves from the achievements of Blair:

Written off up to 100 per cent of debt owed by poorest countries
Introduced the National Minimum Wage
Scrapped Section 28 and introduced Civil Partnership
Free TV licences for over-75s
£200 winter fuel payment to pensioners & up to £300 for over-80s
Funding for every pupil in England has doubled
Free nursery places for every three and four-year-olds
Free fruit for most four to six-year-olds at school
Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70
All full time workers now have a right to 24 days paid holiday
Dads now get paternity leave of 2 weeks for the first time

He was apparently Tory Light.

He had his serious faults did old Tone but can't argue with that. Certainly a massive improvement on the social policies of the Tories that were in power before him.

My point about socialism not being outdated stands purely because some of the laws and policies that worked and have direct socialist principles have not been repealed.

Workers rights, free health care, the idea of social housing, etc.

Coal imports to the UK were 25.5 million tonnes. So we produce a quarter of the coal we consume.

Seems to me there is a market, no?

As Gusset says, have a pop ad hominem at Corbyn but please don't let facts get in your way.

The "facts" are that usage of coal is on a steep decline in the UK.... particularly for generating power.

We are gradually phasing out the polluting power sources (coal production will be reduced to zero but gas and oil will be significantly reduced too) with a view to replacing them with renewable sources like wind/solar generated and to a lesser degree nuclear generated - as well as developing smarter ways to store energy particularly at times when demand on the grid is low.

It therefore makes no sense to re-open mine workings with all the cost of health and safety and draining them from decades of flooding as well retraining the workforce.

So... in this case my "ad hominem pop" at Corbyn is fully justified... just like all the others were.

It would help if you and Gusset stopped using fancy phrases and just spoke plain english like wot I do... LOL

Interesting that I never got a reply to this post?

All I try to do is give common sense replies that use simple easy to understand language and unquestionable facts yet I get castigated for criticising Gusset and others for using gobbledegook phrases like "Ad Hominen" and posting up lefty biased blogs.

Only a few of us on here backed JC, who's looking stupid now?

"JC" - as you refer to him only won a Labour leadership contest.

I won Poster Of The Year on the Hol.

Neither of us are likely to win a General Election in 2020 or earlier if Teresa May calls a snap election.

It gets worse.

Corbyn now promising everything but with no means to pay for it in typical Labour fashion. He even said that he might raise taxes.

Political suicide.

He got an 18 second round of applause. Poor Jeremy.

Now back to the real world.

Corbyn is very happy with unrestricted immigration as official Labour policy, which has probably condemned them to opposition for generations.

If your memory and/or talents aren't that good to remember what you have or haven't posted start writing things down or keeping a log.

Twas just a reminder that you barely make it past the second tier

I'd vote for you before him. But that said, it'd partly be the guilt of not having nominated for you a HOL award...

I do not think you have noticed that a huge amount of people joined labour last year for a very simple reason and that was just so that they could vote him in as leader again as they know he will never win a general election and keep the Tories in power for at least the next ten years. By having him as leader Labour as much chance of getting JC into downing street as I have of beating him to it.!!

I bet the people who joined his party for £3 and £25 are laughing at Labour now.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I like haunting you Gusset far too much to leave Hol.

I only realised after I "left".

If I have to end up getting my Mrs to type my posts I will!

Never mind all that guff Gusset.

What is the point of reading your propaganda?

In WWII people listened to Lord Haw Haw and were worried about the things he said until they realised he was a prize plum and just laughed at him.

Another bloke that raised a laugh was Comical Ali the Iraqi war spokesman.

You are pretty much on a par with them I'm afraid.

Looks like you've just categorically proved Nick's point.

By all means you can back your own viewpoint to the hilt, but going "lalalala I can't hear you and anyway it must be crap so I won't bother even reading it" when presented with reasoned counter argumements devalues anything you then go on to say in defence of your views.

I love this thread. 200 odd pages and the Maoists still think Corbyn can be PM.

It ain't gonna happen.

However, well done the Maoists for thinking it could. Keep reaching for that rainbow!
