You are though dead right that whilst a battle has been lost the war is very far from over. Why on earth would you expect anything else? Farage was already announcing his determination to continue his fight back in 2016 when the early exit polls indicated that remain had "won". Chuck out the insults. Misrepresent the motives. It won't make the slightest difference. The battlefield has been redrawn and new weapons need to be sharpened and made ready so a period of rest and recuperation is needed. Those doing the planning are already grouped together watching how things develop and probing for weaknesses. Time is on the side of those with the best arguments. When reality strikes ours will be ready and the people will listen. I think you should start using IMO in your posts because this constant diatribe that everyone else is wrong is pretty monotonous

The amount of hubris and condescension is staggering. The emperor has no clothes yet he talks like he's decked out in Harrods. Edited by Stirlingsays (10 Jan 2020 6.38pm)

That 18% could have made all the difference as there was, in my opinion, significantly more apathy in the remain camp than in the fully motivated leave one. It was a split vote then and it remains split today. Split right down the middle. You cannot manage a country which is so divided by supporting only one of those views. You need to search for common ground and compromise. Those words should choke you.

Similarities to the Democrats during last Presidential elections People suffer from apathy for a number of reasons. Arrogance could be one but it's not the only one. Even if it was 100% arrogance it makes no difference. People's views matter and they need to be determined. As I personally believe in compulsory voting I give no-one a pass for not doing so. You can spoil your vote but everyone should participate.

You sound like the Labour MPs who cant admit that their party had got it completely wrong Oh in the real world and not in the fantasy one of the hardline Brexiteer. The election result was to elect a government. It was not a vote on the merits, or otherwise, of a Brexit or which kind of Brexit people preferred. The prior polls are a more reliable guide to how people now feel about us leaving. The election only demonstrated that in a first past the post system those who are tired of the whole process elected a government prepared to end it. There is a huge difference. Although somehow I doubt if too many here will understand why let alone acknowledge it.

Read it for yourself with at least a half open mind and you might just see what I mean. I start from the position that Brexit is a bad mistake which was avoidable and ought to have been avoided. Everything flows from that.

Those words should choke you. The need for common sense and compromise has nothing at all to do with me or my own views. I would like Brexit consigned to the history books asap. I do though recognise that half the country disagrees with me and that their views need to be understood and accommodated. Do you understand those who agree with me and accept that until we find a compromise that both sides can live with this dispute will never be solved?

For instance she thinks that after the end of this month there won't be any "foreign" trawlers landing fish in Cornwall. She is a typical "we need to change something" voter who always seem to think the grass next door must be greener. A bit like buying a new striker and finding out he isn't as good as the ones we already have. It boosts the moral of a few for a while but is bound to end in tears. "A sketchy view of politics"

Hardly surprising. Airbus have a huge investment here and so long as a tariff free deal remains on the table they won't be pulling the plug. Let's wait until the end of 2020 before making any kind of definitive judgement.
