I see them in many many ways as actively colluding. It is impossible to believe they did not know about what was going on. Official reports state that files disappeared from supposedly secure locations along with an entire web of links between Labour councillors and the abusers. Labour allowed this abuse to continue for decades, and would happily allow it to continue even now, in exchange for the Muslim block vote. Yep, these people are slime.

No of course not. Criticising certain elements of anything is a perfectly valid use of free speech. Islamophobia is entirely different. It is targeted at the whole religion on a seemingly irrational basis. So according to your logic, Trevor Phillips too is not an Islamaphobe? Once more for the hard of thinking She wasn't BEING - get it? BEING - sexually assaulted. After the daughter told Mr Yaxley-Lennon that something happened he then went and apparently attacked the accused perpetrator. So it appears something happened BEFORE Mr Yaxley-Lennon sought out this chap but it also appears to be hearsay exactly what. That may or may not have been sexual assault On the basis that the Police attended and no charges were proposed other than Mr Yaxley-Lennon's assault, presumably their view was either that sexual assault did not take place or that it was impossible to prove. I am reminded of the accusations made against Palace fans in Hull. An accusation is not always accurate. I am sure that Mr Yaxley-Lennon beating the cr*p out of someone was a great way to help this young girl cope with something that Mr Yaxley-Lennon appears to think was quite traumatising for her. lf it had been your daughter (8years old) either being or had been sexually assaulted, what would you have done? Seems like you're saying...if she was being sexually assaulted then TR was ok battering the bloke, but if she had been sexually assaulted then wait for the old bill to turn up....I think most fathers (other than you and WE) would have done just as TR did, just a normal parental reaction

Edited by the silurian (09 Mar 2020 7.54am) I feel sorrier for your kid having a father prepared to take the law into his own hands and risk being locked up as a consequence. Protecting your children doesn't require you to physically assault anyone. You make sure they are safe and in no more danger as the priority and then you allow the authorities to do their work. That's your actual duty.

I am sure many people would like to join your idyllic Cornish world but CANT due to work/family commitments. Do you honestly believe anyone can just give up their job and start a consultancy business in Cornwall even if they wanted too? They may be working to build up a pension fund, have children to support through Uni. No, I realise that many people feel unable, unwilling or uninterested in making such a move. The point is that everyone can if they choose. It all depends on their priorities and what is important to them. I know some folk who live in a very simple way here, existing on next to nothing. I could have drawn my state pension at 65 but as I was still running my business I postponed taking it. I am now 75.

'Trevor Phillips suspended from Labour over Islamophobia allegations' [Link] I don't know all of what he is supposed to have said but it seems extremely unlikely to me that Trevor Phillips would ever be an Islamophobe. Outspoken on occasions, yes. Perhaps careless too but not an Islamophobe. There is some daft thinking going on at some levels in the Labour Party.

I have never heard it used in a coarser context but am happy to substitute something you think more appropriate. What would you suggest that conveys the first meaning that Google comes up with, ie "a contemptible or objectionable person"?

Carry on referring to him as a used condom if it pleases you.
