One of the first charts I have seen comparing overall deaths week on week vs a five year U.K. average. Important to note this doesn’t include last weeks data where we say a large spike in cases. Edited by SavoyTruffle (14 Apr 2020 11.32am) ONS suggests COVID 19 deaths could be 15% higher than reported due to it not mentioned on the death certificate. I expect these are elderly deaths and probably a lot with conditions that killed them and a lot of people will view those deaths in the way they will when considering the bigger picture but that’s the figure given by the ONS. How accurate it is I don’t know but there’s definitely deaths from Covid recorded under something else. Edited by Rudi Hedman (14 Apr 2020 1.08pm)

Yes, also there will also be deaths reported solely under this virus when that wasn't the main reason they died. So people get the impression that if this virus hadn't turned up they would still be living. That won't always be the case.

Those deaths were more than likely either started or happened earlier because of Covid. I doubt there’s many cases of Covid reported deaths when they didn’t have Covid. They’d be alive longer. Of course there’s a debate about that and going to grow more and more.

Sometimes cause of death is an easy description but often it's nuanced.

We now have an extra 1,000,000 medical face masks thanks to a donation from Taiwan. However, due to the arsehole government of China the UK doesn’t even officially recognise Taiwan as a country.

MPs might need additional equipment cos none of them would have previously claimed for phones, tvs, or computers (oh yeah?) but I would have thought £10K is well over the top. Collectively, they have done fook all for months. eg summer holiday, Brexit shut down, election shut down, Christmas holiday, coronavirus shut down, ... what use are they? Sell the Houses of Parliament and turn it into a hotel. Use MP salaries and expenses to buy equipment for the NHS. We do not need these 650 parasites living off the taxpayer.

The nhs gets the largest cut from the budget. Money wastage is rife and mps salaries and expenses are a tiny %.

Government 'Medical spokespersons' If anyone actually gives any credence to Professors who give medical information, you would be extremely intellectually vulnerable. Raw data can be manipulated in any way you want. That is termed, 'Statistics'. I find it very concerning that there are very few Professors willing to take the Government stance, and spokespersons appear to be very limited in numbers. I would suggest that monies from Government have influenced professional medical opinion on those that appear on TV. This is the biggest statistical fkc-up since Thatchers 'Seasonally adjusted unemployment figures'
I disengage, I turn the page. |
