The killer turns 18 in about 20 days, whilst I understand the law on releasing information on people under the age of 18, we live in a world (for better or worse) where information is easily accessible in the blink of an eye, his name, home address & even his brother's details have been leaked online. Perhaps releasing the killers name earlier (considering he is days away from being 18 anyway) would have helped release some of the pressure that has been building the past few days. I don't expect some on here to understand the next part but I'll post anyway. For the best part of 20 years anyone who challenges the narrative that diversity is a strength has had to turn a blind eye to being demonised, labelled a Nazi, milkshaked, cancelled, witness churches burning across europe, churches being converted into mosques, told not to look back in anger as children are blown up, witnessed the industrialised rape of 500,000 white girls, prison time for saying it's ok to be white, labelled derogatory racist terms such as Gammon, the destruction of historical statues, be lectured to that to be English is nothing more than a feeling, witness the rapid decline in quality of life in our towns & cities, have investigations into grooming gangs withheld from the public, black lives matter nonsense, trans nonsense, the balkanisation of Britain happening in real time. The straw that appears to finally have broken the camels back is innocent sweet little girls being knifed to death in what is quite clearly a terrorist attack, when you pre meditate such a thing travel to said location & go after the most vulnerable in our society it sends a clear message that no one is safe here, it's also an attack on the future of this country. It doesn't matter if it was a mosque, an asylum seeker centre, a police station or the houses of parliament that was targeted, The Tories & Labour have got us to where we are now, wish death on them not your fellow poster. that is one excellent post Ouzo.

There isn't any place in society for individuals or groups that perform heinous criminal acts on their victims. However, we'll waste time and an awful lot of money to protect the perpetrators on the pretence that they are paying their dues to society. It's absurdly unbalanced.

I remain unconvinced that some of the 'patriots,' who were out in force in Southport had any real aims to protest about the tragic events there or in wider society. I think they were just after a bit of a tear up.

Are you angry about what happened? About the bone heads deciding to attack a mosque and the police? Less anger than disgust at their stupidity, lack of respect and lack of sensitivity. What on earth do they think they were trying to achieve? About what happened to the children? Again anger isn’t the right word. I feel very sad for the loss of young innocent life and for the impact it must have on those who loved them, and the wider local community. About the perpetrator? Again anger isn’t the right word. Feeling anger isn’t going to help anyone. Trying to understand what caused anyone to commit such a heinous crime is much more important. I find it hard to believe that anyone capable of doing something like that is mentally stable but want to see what the investigations now being carried out reveal. Until then I don’t feel anger. I feel relief they are in custody and incapable of causing anymore death, pain and suffering.

Societies label the most evil as mentally ill so they don't have to face up to the fact there that very very evil people are roaming about. Breivik was labelled as criminally insane as the Norwegians could not accept that someone could be so evil. I don't agree any crime such as Southport with clear planning and pre meditation can be treated as the act of someone insane and not aware of their actions. This is a clear case where capital punishment would be the correct penalty as far as I am concerned.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The police have clearly and unequivocally stated they are not treating this as a terror incident. They are saying very little more, but they hold the suspect, know who he is so know much more than we do. You, and apparently those that went to Southport yesterday, have decided they “clearly” know it was a terror attack. They know the suspects identify because it has been leaked online, despite the fact that the leaks have been condemned as false information. So best to wait for official confirmation. This helps no one. As I suggested in my early comments in this thread rushing to judgement has the potential to make things worse not better. It did yesterday evening. It wasn’t needed. Giving the families of the victims and the people of Southport the respect they deserve and time and space to come to terms with the shock, is what is needed.

Let’s first see what the official explanation is as to the motive. I hope they don’t try to bury a more troubling societal or even radical religious motive by labelling it mental incapacity but you never know these days. We can only solve these problems when we confront the uncomfortable truth. Edited by XKudu (31 Jul 2024 9.15am)
