All the money forest splashed out and cooper still couldn't keep em out of the c**p. What would he do here with little or even no money to spend. It's a dirty great big fat no from me.

So Cooper gets sacked by Forest for under achieving - poor results - yet some on here believe he will be our saviour..!!

Am I missing something..??

If not being a football manager - must be the only job on the planet - where you under achieve in your last position but instantly become a more attractive and desirable option elsewhere - really..!!

Surely we should be looking for someone that is delivering not failing - or is that too simplistic..??

I respectfully disagree. People could have said exactly the same thing about Gary O'Neil when he left Bournemouth in that he didn't set the Prem alight but he has done a decent job in his second Prem managerial role at Wolves.

Cooper I think is a really good coach and could do a good job at Palace. Got Forest up after a couple of decades, good attacking style of football too with good use of attacking on the wings. Think he's a little unlucky to have been sacked at the expense likely of NES coming in who I think we dodged a bullet with before now.

My issue with Cooper is he spent a truck load of pounds at Forest. Could he adapt to a more thrifty environment at Palace? Not sure.

But by that logic Unai Emery should never have been hired by Villa after failing at Arsenal. Eddie Howe failed at Burnley and arguably second time round at Bournemouth. He's done OK at Newcastle?!

Hodgson didn't do well at Liverpool but did OK, mostly, in subsequent jobs!

My point is that sometimes managers who fail in one job may do better at other clubs, they may be better supported by the chairman, gave a better relationship with the players and fans etc.

I think Cooper would be a great fit for Palace.

If the club decide that Cooper is the chap they want as the next manager , why would they let the opportunity slip?
Roy is only short term anyway and the club may be reluctant to let Cooper slip away and join another club.
It’s a competitive market and Cooper may well be in receipt of other offers which Palace may wish to avoid through making a move now.

As do i ! but at this moment in time Roy is our manager until he is not and has my full support.

He also has the full support of the players. An interview with McArthur, where he couldnt speak highly enough of Roy, he is still in touch with his old team mates, who feel the same.

I think Cooper would be a very credible choice. He took Forest from rock-bottom in the Championship to promotion in the same season, without resources, and he took Swansea to the play-offs without investment the previous year. Last season Forest avoided relegation reasonably comfortably despite being favourites for it. I very much doubt the recruitment policy was Cooper's choice, and he had to shape a team from a huge range of new players, which is likely to be a disruptive and antagonistic environment. I thought he did a cracking job. This season has been mediocre for them, but again there has been a lot of change, and they are still 4 points clear of the relegation zone and in my view looking not bad. He might even bring Gibbs-White with him. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed in him as our next manager.

Forest have spent more in their 2 seasons in the PL then Palace have in 11 years? And are still worse off. (Yes takes time but still)

If there ever was a more defensive coach then Roy, Cooper have to be it. Never saw Forest play anything else then 11 behind the ball at all times.

So he plays even more pragmatic then Roy, had more money and finished last season worse and behind Palace this season. It's not a step up. Have no clue where the fascination for this guy is coming from.
