So are you suggesting that as soon as you represent England once you then remain a good player got the rest of your career and can never be considered poor?

Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (31 Aug 2023 7.30pm)

Its reasonable to consider players that get selected to play for England or any major International team can play football quite well. The constant mantra that our full backs arent any good, isnt quite the reality.

I know no offence is inteded and apologies if it sounds stroppy just very frustrating the way the club is run. We’re miles behind clubs like Brentford Brighton Fulham etc. We have very little squad depth. We only appear to be getting a GK and possibly 1 striker and that might not even happen which will be even worse. We need at least 4 players id say RB, winger, and striker are the most important additions we need. Anyone who criticises parish is slated which tbh the bloke deserves to be slated he is holding the club back massively despite what he has done in the past

Yea , I know what you meen , we are miles behind and need strengh in dept in the squad , i honestly think that is why Roy is reluctant to make substitutions . Also miles behind on the stadium . I think we are a few injuries away from a disaster in the squad . I am by no means a Parish fan boy im a Palace fan. I think Parish is a fan and a business man and is trying to run it as a business by balancing the books and trying and not succeeding because he simply doesn't have the kind of money that is needed . He did dig us out of a hole when we needed and deserves credit for that but , is he holding the club back ? i dont know it could well be the Americans, we may never know .

Regardless, they are Internationals, so not poor players as you insist on telling everyone.

You know we are lacking in that department, you're just clutching at straws to defend the club from strengthening.

If parish was worth 5 billion, would we have a new stand ? I'm almost certain we would, I know the issues, rehousing, improving transport, the main one being the value Sainsburys have put on the land they own but there's no issue money can't solve.

Increase stadium equals an increase in income, which increases the value of our club. It makes no sense for them not to invest. They're worth 5 billion, so they're not stupid, my guess is they're just not bothered and don't see themselves here long term.

Yes it's their money and they can spend how they please and how many billionaires are looking to buy a premier league club etc. But they do own us. I don't see as fans why we can't ask why our shareholders are not investing in the club they decided to buy.

I see your point and I agree that it’s not just him I belief there is something very strange going on as there has to be to be this far behind. I reckon the main stand will happen before long and I wouldn’t be surprised if parish goes after that. The other investors are to blame too very much so. I do thik parish doesn’t trust them and there is a reason but I also belief parish is the reason a lot of managers won’t come to us. He is too tight with budget. Only time will tell

I gave it until the end of the window before commenting and criticising, hoping that we'd pull something out the bag. We didn't.

As a club our sole purpose now seems just to be treading water, to exist. This window typified that. Solid, should just about keep us up, will do nothing to push us forward.

Any talk of ambition or progressing the club on these boards is met with some fans howling about administration, as though that wasn't nearly 14 years ago now, like some weird purgatory that we can never move on from.

Some talk about us hitting our ceiling, yet we've seen clubs like Burnley, Stoke, Hull, Brighton and Fulham overtake us and get into Europe in recent seasons.

Is this really supporting a football team? Fetishising the sensible running of the club rather than harbouring any ambition to do anything on the pitch? Part of me would rather go down and try to win the playoffs again.

We were in desperate need for a a rebuild this summer and the second they reappointed Roy, we should have known it wasn't coming. What did we get? The fewest signings in the league and the second lowest spend.

Only Roy would not only take this on the chin but come out to bat for the owners. His quote this evening?

"Certainly if I was a Palace fan I'd be quite pleased with the team we'd be able to put out now and also with the bench we've been able to assemble."

You read that quote in his voice in your head. It's an insult to our collective intelligence and any other manager would be kicking off about it.

I'm not having a pop at the players we've signed. Lerma is great. Franca could be fun. Henderson and Holding are solid.

But we should be under no illusion that failing to replace Zaha, failing to upgrade our strikers and STILL having Ward and Clyne as our right backs is very much a cop out from those running the club.

This is no broadside at Parish who, I am legally obliged to say, has the best interests of the club at heart. However, we have to take the brakes off and have a go at some point, don't we?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

As you're close, why not go and watch a Gillingham game or two, chat to their fans about their ambitions and priorities. It won't cost much, but you'll get an insight into how they envy where Palace are in the league.

Maybe then you'll stop whinging.

No he’s not - he’s making several valid points using sound logic and reasoning. You should try it sometime.

"Go and support another club". A predictable response which singularly fails to grasp that I am upset because I want Palace to do well, rather than just settling for the same.

If you are genuinely happy with us failing to strengthen those key positions then I'll never understand your mentality as a fan.

Get on the train on Saturday, come to Selhurst and sing your heart out for your club. We've don bloody well overall and Parish has assembled a great team and manager. Come and get behind them I'll be there at least two hours before to soak it in. Can't wait.

Its why Im Palace.
