Yes, she could explain all of those things. The contribution from natural variation is well understood and monitored. The various contributions from human activity is as well. That the press concentrates on one area, and not another, doesn't mean the scientists do. Unless you are one of those scientists, you are not qualified to make judgements. You say you have concerns. I know my old contact would completely allay those concerns. You seem convinced that this is all a devious plan by business and governments to exploit fear and gain control. I am 100% sure it isn't, because my contact convinced me.

Cynicism can sometimes be sensible, but it can also be dangerous.

You got convinced by her. Have you not thought that she may not be protecting her pocket but her reputation. I have seen the worst scenario of what ‘ might’ happen without change. Could you ask your friend what the best scenario ‘might’ be assuming there is one.!!! That’s TIC as it appears we’re all doomed unless we pay more tax and live in a very deep cave.

She was probably 100% convinced of her own argument. She was likely surrounded by people that reinforced that because that’s where we are at socially. You either sign up to the net-zero, LGBTQP, Putler, big pharma loving narrative or you are excommunicated from your life.

It’s no accident that the richest and most powerful people all on board with this because the stand to gain far more than anyone else.

This has been decades in the making.

Agree with all of that apart from the 'excommunicated' bit. What you have experienced is liberation. A chance to finally relish a genuine purpose in life. To resist this s***. To be part of a growing movement.

Yes, lacking in direction, lacking in focus but still gathering energy every day. We live far more than any cucked progressive who is cowed into submission by not being able to actually own a single original thought.

Embrace the resistance. Relish the struggle. Never, ever, give the f***ers a single piece of ground.

My point is that if you knew her too, then you too would be convinced. I am no longer in contact, but she had total integrity and dedication to her work and the truth. She was probably the most impressive person I ever knew. She didn't just think she knew. She knew. Her command of the data and the subject were beyond questioning. Don't doubt her. There simply is no room for doubt. She knew there were variables and that this meant there were a variety of possible outcomes, but not that it wasn't happening. It is. 20 years ago the worst case scenario for where we are today was better than we are actually witnessing, so those who dismiss climate change distress me.

Complete nonsense. She was convinced by the data, which was gathered and processed by the most advanced and specialised systems anywhere in the world.

Those who think they know better, just because it doesn't match their narrative and who want to attribute dubious motivations to honest, dedicated, scientists working all hours to determine the truth for us all, really ought to take a step back. It might be uncomfortable, but global warming being man made is true.

And what did she recommend we do ?
I mean us as people rather than Governments and big business, bearing in mind I don't own a private jet, yacht or coal mine.

Sorry, but is the general gist of this thread really ‘governments and business rapidly seek to monetise and exploit the next big social, economic and cultural shift’. I mean seriously. Can’t think of one historical example where this has happened before. It’s a tough one.

Jesus. It’s hardly revelatory is it

What is the alternative? Socialism? Free energy for all? Mental.

Utterly perplexing that this is all being treated as a) a surprise and b) anything other than inevitable

Regardless of political or ideological views, oil and gas as a primary source of everything was never going to cut it. Nuclear and renewables should be the way forward (caveat - phased out gradually, not aggressively, for obvious reasons)

If we all lived in tiny decentralised communities free from central
Governance I might align with some of the thinking espoused on this thread but we don’t, we won’t, and that’s that.

PS if anyone is seriously still banging the hydrogen drum, especially for transportation they need their head examined.

I'd imagine she would tell you to stop using motorised transport, have your gas, electricity, water supplies cut off, stop eating farmed foods, on no account ever start a fire, reject anything made of plastic....... all the while doing her research. Which includes taking the ambient temperature at her coal mine, before popping off to her yacht in the Bahamas in her private jet.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

No. I was just enquiring as to what ordinary people can do about the situation. Doesn't appear you have an answer though.

These conversations on here should be happening at the highest levels. Questions shouldn’t be ignored. Is CO2 really the enemy?

Determining the policies needed to deal with the impacts was not her speciality. She reported the scientific facts.

How to respond are political decisions which will vary by country. Fortunately, it has been taken seriously and attempts made on a global scale to coordinate actions.

Yes but it seems so important that everyone agrees it's man made but there's nothing "we" can actually do beyond voting for politicians who might offer a solution.
