Not sure about this one. Gallagher certainly has potential. And he does have the youthful engine that we patently lack. So I'm hopeful we land him. Yes, in a way we would be developing the player potentially for Chelsea's benefit, but our budget won't stretch to making permanent signings in all of the areas that Palace need strengthening in.

Question you should ask yourself is would you take this guy over taking nobody? Because yes loan deals benefit the owner club but they also benefit the loaning club…that’s the way they are meant to work otherwise they wouldn’t exist.

Not sure about this one. Whether he is an upgrade on McArthur, will have to be seen to be the case. These loans are never the perfect answer to the needs of any side, but needs must, our needs as It would seem are governed by cost. McArthur, is a diamond, even now effective , but he is only a sixty minute player now, Gallagher ,if nothing else is a similar fit only he will go ninety minutes. I hope Gallagher is successful for our purpose,s but it needs an agreement for next season to be in place, or the success will still be Chelsea’s. We have to be into , promising mid fielders, or has been s , Mc,Carthy was never going to get better now, Gallagher couldn’t be much more promising without being out of our league. IMHO.

I have already asserted on HOL that I envisage some loan signings. At present, one of my concerns is the right-back position and another striker wouldn't go amiss.

Another way of looking at loan signings is that by signing a loan player it means we can potentially ease in our own youth players while the loan player does the heavy lifting, whereas a permanent signing represents a more permanent obstacle. What I like most about Gallagher is his energy. We looked very sow and passive last season and we need more energy. He also has that terrier like quality of McArthur. My one criticism would be that he seemed to fall over at every opportunity.
