You could also argue that the economic situation is exacerbated by mass immigration, it's making the debt mountain much bigger due to the huge cost of social care and climate change is certainly not being helped by moving huge numbers of people from a 3rd to first world carbon footprint. Then you are pretty much covering everything on that list. But then again people will either deliberately or automatically conflate "blaming the immigrants" with "blaming immigration" and we go back to square one. The thing that most people seem to be unaware of is the extent to which capitalism (even with all it's clear faults that need reforming) and the products and technology it has produced are dragging the world out of poverty. Very few seem to understand this hence the push for socialism in the west. Under socialism the whole world will suffer. The middle and working classes, those who truly drive any given economy, have been decimated for the past 30yrs or so pushing many closer to ''poverty'' despite all of the ''products and technology'' you mention. Very few seem to understand that it's 'crony capitalism' and not solely 'capitalism'. There's a huge difference.

It's the large scale events which attract the attention. Ones where automatic weapons are used in schools, churches, malls or nightclubs to mow people down indiscriminately. Smaller events involving inter gang rivalries and domestic violence, whilst of great concern, cannot be considered in the same category. They have different causes and are committed by different people. So we need to separate them to try to produce any meaningful solutions. Large scale mass shootings in the USA are committed almost exclusively by white men. By the way you will recall what Mark Twain said about "Lies, damn lies and statistics". It seems quite appropriate given another comment! Edited by Wisbech Eagle (08 Aug 2019 6.05pm) Remember your 2nd paragraph wissy.

It's quite of amusing that this guy comes up with 'Lies, damn lies and statistics'.....Twain said it of course but it didn't originate with him....Which Twain said himself at the time.....But what does this guy tell you....He comes up with Twain....it's typical of most of what he pushes on here...half truths and wish fulfillment. But that's the point.....the easily fooled both believe and promote in error.....and some are just bare faced liars and exploiters. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Aug 2019 8.06pm)

Remember your 2nd paragraph wissy. I will comment on individual events on their individual merits and not in sweeping generalisations. 4 deaths being a mass killing is NOT so defined by the US law. Definitions vary. So everything you say is a waste of space, time and effort.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I trust you will remember that next time Trump, Johnson, or any of their apologists, open their mouths. Sadly there are a huge number of self righteous fools thinking they understand everything posting here who actually don't have one foot standing on solid ground. I am so glad I am not among them!

No, it's sad tbf given his age. It's actually very much sadder that, when faced with an irrefutable argument, the weak minded feel that their only available response is to attack the poster, with totally irrelevant remarks, rather than address the points. It shows to me just how much the quality of the thinking here has diminished.

I don't think I was involved in this forum during Obama's time but I have always argued for stricter gun controls and said so on forums where gun ownership is defended at all cost. I remain a member of a few and continue to debate with, and be insulted by, the members there. Who is the POTUS has no bearing on that.

There are dead people and bereaved families whatever the total.
