The lengths you lot go to to convince yourselves that this is anything other than a ridiculous waste of money is astounding. Squad player? Strengthen the squad? Yeah, ok. Why not bring back Chungy and Mutch whilst we're at it and toss 5 million at equation? Absolute bargain given how a lot of you are deluding yourselves into thinking that signing Ayew, a proven crap player and relegation albatross, is a good idea. Edited by ChrisGC (24 Jul 2019 2.03pm) Don't go giving the club ideas.

Edited by ChrisGC (24 Jul 2019 2.03pm) The difference with Ayew to those names is that he played a lot of football while with us and improved markedly as the season went on. You are either pretending that didn’t happen or didn’t pay attention last season. It’s a bargain for a decent player who had a bad start to last season in a team that no forwards were scoring goals. He scored goals up until that point and was Swansea’s top scorer the previous year in a dreadful team. As for relegation albatross, one that’s a nonsense argument, two he broke that record last year. We need cover, he offers that. No one expects him to be starting for us week in week out.

Kid yourself all you want, but outside of the fantasy land you've created for yourself, Ayew is a mediocre player who, granted, showed signs of improvement: becoming a championship standard squad player from the league 1 standard who tipped up. This is 2.5m plus wages straight in the toilet and if you can't see that then there's no hope for you.

I don’t agree at all with your fantasy land nonsense either, you have set out an opinion on a player because he had a poor start for us and are ignoring anything else. The squad player is a hugely important role especially for stretched squads like ours. He played plenty of football last season for us, and if we didn’t have him in the squad to play a role it would have been tough as we would have been playing more players out of position. He is useful as a substitute as he pressurises defenders with decent running and this was evident later in the season when he came on and won position up field and relieved the pressure on the defence when he was used that way. He had some poor games, but he had plenty of games where he came in and did a job. That’s exactly his role and that is what he will be signed for. Listen I’m not saying he is a top player but a couple of million for a player that will play up to 30 times covering several positions makes a huge amount of sense. He had a bad start to last season but played well at the end of it and carried that form in to AFCON.

That nonsense where they have a kick about in empty stadiums and try to avoid turning an ankle on diabolical pitches and getting their team bus shot up? He's s***e and you know it. Admire your optimism though, fair play.
