It's an "undeniable fact" that in the days before all seating hooliganism was putting people off coming to football, and attendances were falling. The Emirates has double the crowd we do & there's sod all atmosphere there. Crowd numbers mean nothing is they're quiet/uninvolved.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

And there will be no compensation on the table this time. Edited by c_block_shedevil (31 Jul 2018 8.55pm) If it ever does and they want 'safe standing' in those blocks then it will have to be all of the lower Holmesdale as safe standing or redevelop and 'sink' those blocks so head height is the same as someone sitting in the other adjacent blocks. Obstruction of view of the pitch (by standing people) will lose more people from attending than anything previously discussed. I remember standing on terraces and it's not something I would want to go back to - many people only stood on the terrace as it was half the price of sitting in the 'stands'!

I really wish there could be more consideration between fans. We re all supporting the same team, part of the same family. However it really upsets me to see fans having a go at others because they feel everyone should stand. I've had a few `minor` run ins with people who seem o be part of the HF at away games (the only ones I can feasibly go to). I can understand they want to stand and I can even respect that. However, I often go to matches with my father, ow over 70 he has supported Palace loyally since the 1950's. He is not disabled and doesn't want to be treated as such. But, he is unable to stand for 90 minutes plus anymore. We buy tickets for seats and are forced to stand on occasion because people around want to stand. We have asked people to sit so he can see the game, and in fairness sometimes people do. This ^^^ Same here but we go with the kids (age 11 and 12) who don't really want to go anymore as they end up behind someone who stands (as others are standing in front of them) and can't see most of the game even if they end up standing on their seats.....

Completely different situation. Moving fans to accomodate other fans? Its unfair and its illogical and its not for the betterment of the cub but for the convenience of a bunch of spotty teenagers with flags. So no, it wouldn't be According to the post from the BBS it was an open invite to all those that wanted to stand, not just spotty teens or middle aged has-beens.

Until such time there are standing areas in top tier football stadiums, either sit down or feck off to somewhere like Bromley or Dulwich Hamlet. They'll welcome you. Wanting to stand during a game means you're a rebel? Words fail me!

I would personally convert the whole lower tier as standing too.

Before we get too carried away with new standing arrangements could we remember that standing at premier league games is still not allowed.

It’s an undeniable fact. generally true but i also think the deterioration at Palace, while significant, is less than at many other clubs. I mean anfield, goodison and old Trafford. those places were extraordinarily loud. now they're genuinely on a par/ often worse than us.
