Didnt ask for stats, I am asking about squad depth. Please answer the question I asked, not the one you hoped I asked, but didn't. Hodgson has worked miracles with what he has been given which illuminates our goal difference. Despite demanding a keeper publicly last month he was let down by Parish. Once again - name a team with worse squad depth (aka less cover of adequate experience/quality) in both attack and in goal. You asked who is lighter in attack and goalkeeper. I would suggest anyone scoring less goals than us, especially after our start are lighter than us. Pointless having 6 strikers if the team can't score. quality over quantity. same principal applies for the keeper, and yes I am aware of the arguments around Hennesey but other teams are conceding more

Was he available for less than Guaita? Did we leave the Ronnow guy too late? Now either Parish is pretending to sign these players and never intends to to placate the manager when he knows FFP means we can't afford them or we can afford them. Niasse wasn’t our fault. It was his agents fault and Everton backed out. Maybe we didn’t really fancy Ronnow and it was a last minute thing for a reason and it didn’t work out for that reason. Sorloth was a target all along and we got him.

But Parish wished he kept Fraizer f'ing Campbell on.

I am loath to speak for another poster, but where I read "insignificant" I read relatively trivial in the scheme of where this club is going. I don't agree with everything you have said - much opinion filtered through red mist? - but you make some good points about the way SP has managed the squad and the fact that we have lost 2 managers who - unheard of in the Prem - have walked rather than be fired. Because of the money and prestige of Prem management, I suspect most head coaches will tolerate just about anything to stay in post. So why did 2 middle-ranking managers leave? Something is not right. Then again - and I know a lot of posters are annoyed that this is raised each time SP is criticised - there is still the small fact that we are a club that has gone from c.10p in value that owned only its name to £150M and ownership of its whole capital infrastructure... in only 8 years. As a small unfashionable club, we are still expanding in terms of enriching the brand image and non-TV commercial revenue. We are rebuilding the ground in a sensible progressive way - stand by stand. We do not have the funds of Liverpool or Spurs to do the whole lot in one go. We will improve the training facilities and academy but, unlike most of our competition, we are having to attempt this within the M25 where land is very scarce and very expensive. At the playing end we give the appearance of an organisation still finding its way. At the corporate end recovery from near liquidation to a sound business unit is ongoing with the trajectory still upward. As anyone in commerce will tell you, we will see improvements in the former as the latter continues to grow. Trouble is, the pace is probably too slow for most football fans. Cheers. You read and understood my point correctly. There’s no such thing as mid-table mediocrity in the Prem apart from Everton who were once one of the big boys. Every season a race to 40 pts and this is our place in the food chain. Edited by Rachid Rachid Rachid (16 Feb 2018 9.20pm)

Insignificant? Totally disagree. Letting us have only 1 fit striker in the premier league was completely reckless and ridiculous to boot. Lo and behold Benteke got injured not long after that p&ss poor decision was made to not sign Niasse/A. N. other. Not replacing Mandanda is such a glaring mistake that it is literally costing us points per season, which we cannot afford. Listening to Hodgson harp on about the pressing need to sign a goalie, messing around with Guaita, and not signing a keeper in the last window is also reckless and once again Parish is playing a foolish and senseless game with squad depth. He is also annoying the manager into the bargain, who clearly isnt happy with our 2 keepers, and the fact that we only have 2 in the first place. Parish doesnt exactly have a strong history of keeping managers overly happy. Somehow Allardyce "retired from football" on his watch. Lo and behold Jules immediately gets injured and now we have 1 fit keeper. Whats your point about our signings not being good enough? That is once again Parish' fault as he has the ultimate say on who we buy, so you are making my point for me there mate. Holloway had to beg to get fired/be ALLOWED to walk which was a nonsense. As for Parish's attempts to move us forward and play on the front foot more, notice a pattern there? We tried it with Pardew to our ruination, and then Parish goes and makes the same mistake again with FDB, but on a spectacularly stupid scale, I must admit. The pattern is Parish making the same bonehead mistakes year after year after year. Not replacing Mandanda is literally costing us points per season ?Give it up. The point about those very expensive players who most fans were very happy to see sign for us is that if they’d performed to a fraction of the level in front of goal you’d expect then we’d be sitting in the precious mid-table mediocre position this season you talk about.

Explain the point I'm making? If you don't know it's important to have ONE available striker over a number of games and not just 1 mast he in that situation that catches the opponent out then I'll leave it there. Benteke could've been out for 4 months, September to end of December for all Parish knew. I'd rather us have a mediocre prem striker or one who has no quality as you claim than nobody at all and I'd bet every pound note Parish spends on himself in a week that he'd admit the same, only he hopes it never happens. This doesn't happen once with us. It happens on a regular basis.
