I thought Tomkins and PVA did just as well. Lots of important blocks and interceptions.

i singled out those 4 as they hadnt played that much recently, just goes the show the squads a lot stronger than people think.

I'd have snatched someone's hands off this morning for a point.

I thought we were very well organised TFM, Kelly, Tomkins and PVA were immense in defence.

I'm not even that p@ssed off Milo missed the pen. On that listening to Michael Owen who I generally think is a kn@b - on this occasion he may have a point.

Going back to the Bournemouth game when Benteke took the penalty and missed in similar circumstances - last minute, Milo didn't as the designated penalty taker didn't appear to make that much of a fuss.

Owen's suggestion was that maybe Milo didn't/doesn't fancy the pressure in the last minute - now Owen would know being a regular penalty taker himself.

So perhaps on the basis of today there is something more behind the Bournmouth / Benteke penalty than we know/realise - one thing for sure Benteke wasn't going to take it today.

As I said I don't agree with Michael Owen very often - on this occasion he may have a valid point - taking a penalty at 0-0 in the 50th minute is totally different to taking one at 0-0 in the 90th.

I certainly wouldn't be putting my hand up to take it - so fair play to those that do..!!

Personally I'd have let Wilf take it - he is so full of confidence.

On Wilf - Graham Poll after the game - there is contact but not enough to go down - it's a dive and Wilf should be banned for diving.

So hang on a minute Graham you have now developed the ability to dicipher/determine sufficient contact for a player to go to ground - and beyond that despite contact suggest a player dived and should be banned...!!

Shame you never had that foresight when you were reffing instead of punditry - where all you do is for effect...!! Kn@b..!!

Anyway we have done today what 18 teams before us have failed to do - and for that we should feel very proud - well done Roy and the boys.

Remember Lakis missing a sitter from under the bar, in the season when Arsenal never lost a game .
Then today with the penalty.
Well happy with the result, but a tiny bit gutted.
Had a feeling it would be saved.
Great performance, would have moved Zaha earlier as he was getting nothing out of Walker, apart from that we were spot on , even The subs done well.
Didn’t understand why Speroni was dropped, but Roy got it spot on, great save from Hennessey.
Need to follow it up with 3 points at Southampton.
Happy New Year.

There was contact. It may have been a soft penalty but there was contact. Why do some people believe that if it wasn’t a penalty it’s a dive? This coming from the ref who issued 3 yellow cards to be played!!!

Very very proud of the boys even though we missed a pen.

Roy Hodgson is a tactical genius setting up team the way he did.

We will have some tired legs for the saints game but hopefully Jimmy mac and Sako will be back.

Chuffed with our performance and we didn't just sit back like Newcastle did thee other day

The panel should not listen to w***er Poll. He is paid to be sensational.
About time refs started giving penalties when players don't go down.
I watched Aldershotv Maidstone yesterday. The Maidstone striker was rugby tackled yet got his shot away which was saved and no penalty. If he had dived it would have been a penalty.
What are players supposed to do???

Ok, Walker is great, but he shoves players all the time and no foul. I just don't get it.

Personally I thought the ref made the right decision re penalty. Sterling definitely nudged Wilf and at his speed that is enough to lose your balance.
I reckon Milo miskicked the ball. A foot higher and it would have been in.
Ahh well.
