It was apparent to all of us we would be late. I have a photo I took inside Brighton station in a que to get on the train to falmer and that was taken at 19.20hrs. We arrived at falmer according to my camera at 19.38 and the ground was well in the distance with none of us moving anywhere Sorry, misread your post and realised having re-read it I was talking nonsense. Now edited (can't seem to delete it). Sorry to hear you got held up. Edited by Homousbrigade (30 Nov 2017 1.30pm) Edited by Homousbrigade (30 Nov 2017 1.31pm)

Yes, it looks like the club weren't as prepared as they could have been for a gang of posturing scumbags without tickets rushing the gate. Maybe that's because it hasn't happened before in the 5 years since the Amex opened. I'm sure there'll be lessons learned assuming both clubs stay up ;-) I really feel for the genuine fans caught up in all this crap, and think the police didn't help matters with all their willy waving outside, but this sort of thing is usually fairly easy to avoid if you keep your head down and your gob shut for 10 minutes between getting close to the ground and getting through the turnstiles. If Palace come back to the Amex next year (as a neutral, I hope they do, and in the Premier League), then my advice would be to avoid the trains, particularly from Brighton Station if at all possible. My advice would be to avoid being escorted, but then that would mean both sides not being safe in the knowledge there won't be much trouble toe to toe. Police and most fans don't want this so have in a way created this escort stuff. The speed I've seen some fans walk in an escort of 5 police through stations takes some believing.

At the end of the day, genuine supporters who had paid hard earned money for tickets were denied entry due to the actions of a moronic minority.
At the same time you bleat about personal slurs while dishing them out. So, yes, myopic and lazy are indeed two things your thinking is guilty of. Nor is it original, you're simply repeating a position taken by David Duckenfield or Norman Bettison. Changing the narrative to cover up the incompetence of the police and bha. (And while this was, nor would ever have been, a serious an incident like Hillsborough, the principle behind it is the same. Criminalise the fan. Look here's the proof! When in reality it is nothing of the sort, just your interpretation of it that fits a fake narrative. I'll leave you with this: "There was also a more subtle effect. Fans had been able to be painted as this uniformly frightening group, baffling and impenetrable in their motives. It suited the authorities to do so because it made it easier for them to deal with a problem they would rather not have had to. Edited by Kodg (30 Nov 2017 1.55pm)

Edited by Kodg (30 Nov 2017 1.55pm) I really do not know what darned "Prejudices" you are on about. If you care to examine my posts, I have been steadfast in my fulmination of those minority of so called "Fans" whose disreputable actions resulted in genuine supporters NOT being able to witness the game. And their dastardly actions culminated in the events which followed.I really don't think that criticising such moronic behaviour is beyond the pale. Furthermore I categorically stated that if the Police and BHA have a case to answer then these need to be addressed by the relevant authorities.I have not exonerated them from any blame at all - I was not caught up in the scenes described on here so cannot possibly apportion blame or not ! Somehow my numerous utterances on here have been mis-intrepreted as supporting the actions of Police and BHA and discounting the reports from our supporters but without being a witness I cannot with any certainty form any firm conclusions. As for "Personal slurs", I NEVER seek to offend anyone nor hurl personal insults which given what I have endured on HOL is even more to my credit.IF I have offended anyone, it certainly hasn't been by design and I offer my sincere apologies without any reservations. All I do is to express my honest opinions which on occasions do not meet with pandemic approval but I certainly do NOT go out of my way to take an alternative viewpoint purely to raise hackles and trigger fiesty debate. Finally, I have treated your accusation of "Fake narrative" with the contempt it deserves. Edited by Willo (30 Nov 2017 2.23pm)

Eastbourne isn't somewhere I can commute to without an absolute headache from where I live. There were no masked youths covering faces when I was in there. We had to show tickets and photo id to even be allowed in the place. We left about 6pm. Usual palace bunch. Knew loads of the people there either personally or by sight. My issue if you read my original post is with the hoo haa round the amex. That's where the police acted like toss pots and all organisation and safety flew out the window .

I would like to say that Willo is a valuable resource to this site. He is one of the rapidly dwindling group of people for whom the status quo has worked and is working as far as I can tell. He supports the status quo and is not someone that is a driver of change. He assumes that the powers of authority know what is best. That is all very laudable but for those people that see things differently it has an ostrich feel to it. Let us not forget that the 'authorities' were responsible for the treatment of the Hillsborough victims and - as reminded to us by our Baggies friend - the Birmingham six. Let us also not forget that being Gay was criminal until 1967 and even after that many Gay people were still convicted. In truth you cannot just accept what is said or done just because someone is 'in authority'. There is always an agenda, people are always defensive and in fear of losing power and influence. However, if a significant group of people believe in the authority figures and are 'conservative' with a small c, then we should hear from them. Unfortunately I don't see us changing their opinion but in my view we need to understand it. So Willo is helpful in that regard and relatively unusual in his staunch support of authority. I have to say that 'conservative' people are usually very vocal about their hatred of the 'nanny state' yet won't hear anything bad said about authority figures, seems odd to me.

Well Paul came by taxi so wasn't with us hundreds who had been frogmarched on a tour of the backstreets and got there late. The game had kicked off as we walked across the bridge out of falmer. So even a few minutes he would have been in and missed it. The photo I posted after my experience of the night was the scene which met us. So the smoke bombs and things which looked like sparklers / fireworks on the floor may have been the immediate aftermath of those who stormed in
