...and another thing that is very telling, the pro-Benteke's earlier in this thread have gone totally silent save for brave Brauny. Or deluded Brauny if you are in a certain camp (the sane one ). But he didn't hide all the same.

What Christian is doing, with the occasional head-on flick there and the ooooh he nearly scored there, is justifying, to himself and impressionable supporters, that he just about deserves his spot in the first team and the belief that he will come good without actually having to try hard and putting in a proper shift to pick up his £500,000 a month (before tax). In short he is taking the p1ss and the management and a few of our own fans are allowing him to. He put's in 80% every game. Wake up ffs those of you who think otherwise. As I said the other week, I genuinely believe we looked better going forward with Zaha and Townsend upfront. Hopefully we get some one with a little more energy in January.

The fire in his belly has gone. He is a hindrance to our survival chances. Alex Ferguson would have had him gone many weeks ago training with the youngsters. We still pick him for the first team. I really like Roy but if he keeps picking him for no other reason than he is 'Christian Benteke' I fear we have got the wrong manager yet again.

I think Roy is a good manager, I like him and I hope he shows Benteke up for that. It would be interesting to see Cheek get a more attacking role in the centre with zaha and townsend either side with maybe Jimmy Mac, Cabaye or even give Kirby a go behind them.

@dangermouse and others - still happy with Benteke? Responsibility? Oh, yes, making certain we do not win. Luka would have secured 3 points. Benteke secures 1. If we ever takes on a 1st team Palace shirt again, I`m gone

CB himself seems to be one of the more emphatic 'yesses' in this debate.

Why are people discussing whether to sell Benteke and at what price? I think he is the worst striker ever to wear a Palace shirt - and, yes, I remember Veart, Taylor, Akinbiyi. Release him and earn a 0.01% of avoiding relagation...
