I'm definitely coming around to Silva. Don't fancy Monk at all and they seem to be the only two viable candidates. He would have a much better squad of players here than he had at Hull and he seems to know how to win consistently at home. Edited by pompeyeagle (26 May 2017 8.23am)

Those proclaiming Dyche (who I happen to like, not sure I want him as the manager) is so much better than Silva should bear in mind that Burnley only finished 6 points (2 wins) ahead of Hull. Dyche had the benefit of being there for years, managed in the PL before, full preseason and it being his squad. I am not the best at choosing managers, I was happy when we got Peter Taylor didn't want Pulis or Allardyce and was glad when Dougie got the job

I'm so happy that Parish & CPFC2010 will be choosing our next manager and that neither I nor any of you have any say in it. Edited by sa_eagle (26 May 2017 8.29am)

Hull from the fans to the board seemed to love the guy despite getting relegated, which seems a good sign. I only saw the Palace v Hull game so I have no way of judging how good a a coach he is as in honesty they were dead and buried within two minutes. This could in theory be a progressive move rather than a safe one. Southampton have gone down this route to some success and with financial support we could do well too. Silva you would imagine has a good knowledge of players outside of England and being young he may be able to connect with the likes of Wilf. My big worry is that to date he does seem to move around a lot, which doesn't suggest stability. Then again, that's disappearing from the modern game anyway. I generally always get these things wrong so I'm just going to reserve judgement

I see all the speculation about certian managers going here and there and they are all 'Name' managers. I look at someone who hasn't had a mention on here - step forward Derek Adams of Plymouth. He did a terrific job at Ross Co on a 'Shoestring' getting them promotion to the Scottish league and just missing out on Europe by a point. In his first season at Plymouth, having signed 'Loanees' and 'Frees' he led them to the play-off final where they lost to AFC Wimbledon.Last pre-season they lost a lot of players yet Adams signed a load of 'Frees' and they got promotion to Division One. This is what I call real achievement, NOT winning the league at Olympiakos and the cup at Sporting.I accept winning league/Cup is commendable but I look at the 'Bigger picture'.Rest assured I'm not being critical of Silva, just saying that his achievements have been 'Over-stated' by many on here. This is my main point, not a strident criticism of Silva. Now you ARE just being a div Trolley

All I was doing was saying that when one compares his successes and achievements against those of Silva with Olympiakos and Sporting one would argue that Adams' is the more impressive when one takes everything into consideration. Trust me, I am NOT being critical of Silva and if he comes to us I will wish him every success. I just think that winning the league with Olympiakos and the cup at Sporting is not right up there in terms of achievements and people are getting 'Carried away' by this.
