Respect for your opinion and sincere it sounds too but i just can't agree with you there. Shouting 'bender' at a straight Brighton fan 50metres away is not quite at the same level as attacking two guys for holding hands, is it?

I get that it must make some fans feel uncomfortable but in the bigger scheme of things it's just two hours of some people being a bit immature and daft and some stupid but but away from that they are back down the pub or at home and probably couldn't give a hoot about others' sexuality.

I think what I am trying to say is 'don't let it upset you out of proportion to what it really is'. It's not banter. It is offensive. For two hours. And that is the point. It's meant to be. But, paradoxically, not meant toward gay people as a group but specifically Brighton fans.

Although I could never hope to be as eloquent as you Flynny I do agree with your sentiments.
Being gay is just your sexual orientation. In the past if you were gay you had it tough - could go to prison etc. but nowadays no one really gives a flying f***.

Look at Part Time James - massive Tranny lover. If he went to a match and the songs were all about Shemales is he going to be offended? No. He'll just book a Ladyboy massage and get on with it.

Southampton Eagle - massive Ginger. If he goes to a game and thecrowd take the piss out of a ginger player is he going to be offended? No. He'll just claim he's Strawberry blonde and get on with it.

Saxon Eagle - chubby accountant. If he goes to a match and the crowd call a topless Newcastle fan a 'Fat b******' is he going to be offended? No. He'll just eat another Mars Bar and get on with it.

Superfly - former Jesus lookalike. If he goes to a match and the crowd blaspheme is he going to be offended? No. He'll just say 5 Hail Marys and get on with it.

Racist chanting is and always was awful. Singing a few songs about where someone wants to stick their willy isn't even worth worrying about.

Look at Cucking - massive Bisexual Bender. If he goes to a match and they sing songs about bisexuals does he get offended? No. He just buys another tub of Boy Butter and gets DanH round for the evening.

It is possible to go through life and not get your knickers in a twist about things. Some people do seem to be on a crusade to find things offensive.
