I'm not sure that he actually risked anything as he secured his money with a charge over the club's assets so if everything went belly up again he would have got his money back through asset sales

Another season of premier league football almost certainly achieved but not without the usual squeaky bum end of season, added this year to beginning of season disaster and a fairly lacklustre transfer window. Sorry but I still don't see everything in the garden quite as rosy as some (who will no doubt now tell me I am plastic or disloyal etc. etc. ) When has it ever been better? we have had some great times with Bert Head, venables the 1st time, and of course Coppel, but nothing then compares to the present cocktail of great chairman, great manager, great squad, and the greatest, loudest supporters EVER

I saw him on Saturday, he looked really thin and gaunt. Once we're safe mathematically, hopefully he'll get himself down to Burger King.

Main risk factor this summer is losing Roy and I think he would love to give retirement a miss for another year but he would rightly expect to be backed in the transfer market. He has proved himself to be a brilliant manager and with a good squad and a few outstanding players he could give himself (and us) a less stressful time of it. But recruitment is Parish's problem. A very good businessman and a huge ego. These things often go together. He knows that it's likely the best deals are to be had at the deadline, but his judgement has let us down in the final days and hours. He has overestimated the strength of his hand (high transfer fees compared to Europe) but also overestimated the selling club's need to sell. Or underestimated that they really need cash not extended payment terms. So when he plays hardball and tries to nail the finer points of the deal (cash percentage / payment plans etc) they can bring the shutters down as the clock counts down and he misses players and is left with poor terms on the ones he can get in. Sørloth may prove to be a brilliant purchase but you can't be impressed with your deal when the other club are openly wetting themselves with glee at the price they wrung out of you.

We should thank him that we still have a football team to support!! Currently the club is shared between mainly 3 people and then further people taking up to nearer 10 I’d have thought. Poor windows because signings have been attempted at the last minute puts their money at risk the same as it does our enjoyment and love of the club and desire for it to stay in the division. I hope the new rule of window closing the Thursday before the season starts sorts us out, but Parish voted against this so we’ll see. It’s only this matter that people have a problem with mainly but some turn it into some of us hating Parish and probably personally too.

Hopefully,Steve will have learnt from his experiences in that he one hopes, will be fully focused on some quality signings this coming window, following a quite disastrous January window.

January wasn't a great window, but we had a net spend of £40+ million for the season, plus whatever loan fee we paid for RLC. That's hardly a small amount for a club our size. To put it in perspective, there were rumours Arsenal are only going to give their new manager £50 million to spend.

I was wondering what hair-do he will opt for next season. He has gone for the blonde wind-swept SJ look for too long, in my opinion. And time for some looser trousers, so he can increase the blood flow to his brain.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

He's got until August 9th before he has to worry about transfers.
