But been reading palace fans on twitter and watching their games mainly via MOTD, nut really history is repeating.
The long winless runs, the baffling subs, the dreadful football, alienation of players (usually due to inability to man manage), the absolute spin "we play good attacking football" yet his teams are toothless.
At palace as at Newcastle, and his other clubs starts off well, gets his feet under the table then it all goes wrong.
It's down to his brilliance when the team win, but its bad luck, conspiracies, bad refs, the transfer window etc etc when it goes badly.

This man will ruin everything that's enjoyable about supporting your club. He'll divide the squad, divide the support and make it a pain in the arse to attend games because it's so dull.

I can see it has already started by skimming through this board. Don't fall into the trap of battered wife syndrome "well who else is better". Get out while you can

I've been told, by a Newcastle fan, that under Pardew they'd have along run of woe, followed by a run of a few good wins, which gave them hope, then they'd slide back.

Still, that's football I suppose.

If only life was like football. When you have a sticky period, you call on the chairman to sack the current manager and 'sort it out'.

And then he left and they got a long run into the Championship.

This season is a big test for Pardew as he has finally received the financial backing and control that Newcastle never gave him and we could previously not afford to provide. If we can finish in the top 10 in what is a very strong league this year then I think he will have proven himself.

I will admit to being concerned after the WBA game, but he has shown that his talk of a new system is actually real and is showing signs of gestation.

This just goes to highlight the lunacy of holding the transfer window open into the first month of the season. The team wasn't fully formed until Benteke was signed (and Remy, but he was returned damaged).

We have 10 points from 6 matches, so we're 25% towards safety after 16% of the games. Now it's an unbalanced sample as we've only played one team that's expected to finish at the top-end - Spurs - so it's not to say that we'll finish on 63 points. But it's points in the bag and, perhaps more importantly, points taken away from other lower-division teams. This all goes towards bolstering our survival and (hopefully) a good finish.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

If we carry on progressing with the new style of football i will be happy to finish in the same places as Newcastle did under AP. We are not a big club so we will get bad spells it would be the same under any manager even Rafia Benetez.

They were happy enough to win a match from being 3-2 down with ninety seconds left thanks to a hat-trick from a player whom Pardew had supposedly "ruined".

I started writing this like I remembered all the fine detail then realised I didn't....
