Probably, but who would directly quote in this situation? To be fair it is one that feels like it's dragging on. The other two were just spoken about, done, dusted and on we go. Could just be the fee that's slowing it but I'm not totally convinced.

I find it hard to believe an agent and player are trying to negotiate a wage rise a year after his last one signing for Liverpool and failing to succeed there or even get a game there or in the future. It won't happen. The pay rise I mean.

When West Ham were interested in March, they wanted £40k of his weekly wages covered in the deal. £80k is the general ceiling for the middle cluster of Prem clubs. How many you have will roughly determine where you are in the table over time.

Cabaye is our highest earner on £80k. I don't know who or how many are on parity deals.

If Benteke was nearing the end of his contract after failing at Liverpool there is no way he'd get £120k, let alone a pay rise.

We need to get this over the line soon.

Flipping pay rise before he gets here, that's trying it on isn't it ?
Quite frankly I would be saying to him - come on board for xxxxxxxxxx money per week, with milestone add ons at 10 / 20 / 25 / 30 goals per season, then at least we get something out of any pay rise, then if he dosent like it leave him in Liverpool reserves.
I never feel comfortable when someone comes on board behaving like we need him more than he needs us.
Sounds like Peter (above) is close to the truth when he says he dosent really want to come to us & wants to string this process out longer to see if a better (perceived) club shows interest.

Where is it quoted, he wants a pay rise? I have read, he has agreed personal terms, but Liverpool rejected our £25m bid and want nearer £30m.

How you get out of that, the player is holding out for higher wages, I don't know.

I am confident Parrish will do the best deal possible. Bottom line is, we need a young proven Premiership goal scorer, they don't come cheap.

He is holding out for interest from other clubs.
Either ,if we want him, got to do a deal immediately, or move on to our next best option.

Isn't Carrol and Benteke similar players?

Just like Wickham and Benteke. I don't think we should do this deal for anything more than £25 mill. Even then I'd have my reservations and feel the money would be far better spent on a midfielder/midfielders
