Police have written an open letter warning of the danger to public safety if the Tories get in.
How so?
The letters do seem rather politically expedient (and I think the Tory supporting business leaders letters probably had a similar reception). Plus I don't see why the Labour cuts - which will almost certainly be similarly stringent to the police service amongst others - would be any less damaging than Tory cuts?
Get real people, Labour brought this country to it's knees last time and yet many of you want them back? Madness.
Did Tory mp's vote against labour economic ideas when labour were in power? No? In fact they wanted deregulation to go further. Highlights of Osbornes record... 1. Total government debt up in absolute terms. They have borrowed more in five years than every Labour government in history - something over £517bn. (As a share of GDP they have claimed it has, just, fallen but as someone says - if memory serves - this is because they counted in the sale of Eurostar). 2. Deficit down, but they forecast £40bn for start of this year. It is more like £90bn. Instead of being gone by the end of this year, they have shifted the target to being gone by the end of the next parliament. 3. Average real wages down 2% on 2010 (IFS figure). Would be worse but falling oil price has brought inflation down, boosting real wages. Edited by nickgusset (23 Apr 2015 12.47pm)
Osborne has played a sh1t hand very well in the circumstances unlike Brown and Darling that had favourable economic conditions to start with but when the bad times came made some horrendous decisions like persuading Lloyds to merge with HBOS then bailing them out with our money when it transpired HBOS lendings were toxic. The man has played his hand like the muppet he is. Austerity has failed. #FACT The second highest rate of growth amongst the G7 nations, the lowest unemployment rate on the books, and the tacit approval of the IMF. "Austerity has failed". Are you just typing out one of the "red newspapers" that land on your doormat each day? Vote One Nation Labour? Next you'll reel out the typical tripe "but what about the zero hours contracts" (2% of the whole workforce, of whom 2/3 are happy with them) or "record use of fooodbanks!!!" (free food: gift horse, mouth + Germany has a higher use % but with *LOWER* unemployment). Now take a look at France. That's what Milipillock wants to turn us into. Face it, you've been played big time by Labour. That's certainly not to say that it's been an easy ride, or that it's a rose garden now, but you just KNOW that we'll end up having to go through the same process again when Balls balls it up (as has every Labout govt).

Great Post. Sure The Conservatives have been far from perfect but compared to the morons from whom they took over, they've made a pretty decent fist of it all said and done. More Jobs, Low Interest rates, Low unemployment, and for ME more Money in peoples pockets!!

And "Milipillock". Seriously, how old are you? I live in a Labour stronghold. They don't even bother sending them here. Nice try. It's not something I need to read on a party leaflet though - Christine Lagarde's comments are well out there in the public domain. I'll give you a nice left-leaning source: Perhaps it is in the Daily Mail - not something I can say given I don't read it. Was it in the Graun? Did they spell IMF correctly? You want the report on the zero hour contracts that Labour bang on about so much (we're all waiting for the huge campaign fighting for the other 98% of the workforce - next week maybe?). Here (don't worry, again it's not a Daily Mail page): Moreover, my comments are my own: I have the intelligence to string a sentence together, to gather *facts* (yup, not Hampstead Heath spin) and present them to refute the rubbish you lot lift from idiots like Owen Jones. As for Milipillock - you'll excuse me when "swivel eyed loon", "racist", "bigot" and (most recently) "nazi" are levelled at anyone expressing a view right of Stalin these days out in the broader internet, and indeed on here. But yes, I am old enough to know better. Doesn't mean I have to. Don't feel like you have to refute any of these points though. Just come back with something pithy, or another attempt to paint it as a copy/paste job (even if it were, them's the facts).

It's all available on the internet nowadays, so you're right, no need for a Tory leaflet through the door. I live in a Tory stronghold but at least the other parties campaign and leaflet here. Shame the Tories don't do you the same courtesy, despite the tons of cash they have piled up from millionaire donors. I don't expect the IMF to be anything other than pro-Tory so nothing to see there. I never asked for any report about zero-hours contracts. They are widely known to be exploitative and are very likely to be abolished or amended whoever is the next government. It's nice for you that you are able to string a couple of sentences together. Well done. Give yourself a gold star. "Fruitcakes, closet racists and swivel-eyed loons" is what massive leftie David Cameron called Ukip supporters. Take it up with him if you've got a problem with these terms.

Fairs fair mate. "Fruitcakes, closet racists and swivel-eyed loons" is what David Cameron said about Ukip supporters. I thought you'd like it if I agreed with a Tory PM Hoof
