Does the British PM understand his own 'deal'? As far as Northern Ireland is concerned, definitely not. His claim that only some minor administrative 'rigmarole' is required at the border has been dismissed by practically everybody. But what is more revealing is that he has told them that his deal is so great because it gives them the customs union and unlimited access to the single market. The obvious riposte to this is, in that case, why can't the rest of the UK have it. Oh and err ummm - unfettered access to Great Britain? For entertainment value its great, but for everything else it is a complete disaster.

Nice one Nigel! A bad day for Labour, LibDems and Remainers. A good day for the Tories, Brexiteers and democracy. Brexit incoming soon. Real soon.

Wayne Bayley, who until lunchtime was the Brexit party candidate in Crawley, a Conservative-held seat, isn’t very happy about the decision taken by his leader. i would have thought it is the end of 'leave'. Farage was correct that Johnsons deal is not really leaving, at least nothing like the brexiteers wanted. As for transition periods, Canada plus deal which Farage has given as reasons to support Johnson, neither of them are within the power of the UK. They depend on the EU, and the USA is not supporting a trade deal with Johnson.

Sure, this isn't the deal I want but you frame things like they are set in stone. We haven't even negotiated much of the trade yet and we will be moving towards ridding ourselves of much of the 'remainer' junk that still exists. We just need some time and a reasonable Johnson majority.....with all the Tories being leavers...and both look likely.

Exactly the 20 or so Tory rebels are pretty much gone and presumably will be replaced by candidates who will vote for Brexit. Assuming that they retain those Tory seats that bumps Johnson's majority even if he ends up with the same number of seats as last time.

An isolated country like the UK, whatever will be left of it, is hardly in a position of strength in negotiations with the EU bloc or the USA. The Canada negotiation took 7 years and was in doubt right to the last, the UK would be far more complex. The american president has already said no to Johnsons deal. UK is like a man on a window ledge, seemingly unable to see what is in front of its eyes.
