It should be obvious to anyone reading this "article" that it's a total pile of lazy horses****. It's not even internally consistent. Says that Parish contacted Silva and offered to fly him out to Spain for a discussion, but found that he was as good as signed up to Watford; and then reckons that he was lazy and not quick enough off the mark? It is as I and a number of others called it in the first place: He wasn't even considering Silva.

I continue to be amazed that people actually get paid real money for making up f***ing garbage like this. They know absolutely f*** all, can't be bothered to try to find out, won't admit that they aren't ITK and so just invent whatever fantasy they can think of that sounds most scandalous and titillating. Never mind the harm they do to reputations, feelings and businesses. Utter parasites and that's being charitable.

In view of the fact that the one thing that the media all agreed on was that Marco Silva was our number one choice yet Steve Parish debunked that last night in a tweet I wonder if any of the rumours are true

I think the confusion is that new contracts start from 1 July, but plenty of teams, including the Weed, are getting pre-contracts signed with their targets.

I suppose it's possible to think that "he would say that, wouldn't he", but the first credible story, linking us to Silva, was from Dominic Fifield on 24 May:

This suggests that SP's version is fairly accurate on timescale, albeit "next day" might be exercising a bit of licence on timescale. I suspect that for Silva the Watford bird-in-the-hand was a safe option that he didn't want to put at risk.
