But, at least we know how to parrrrrrrrrty!

If you did not add that last line or ones like it, it would make it easier to agree with you.

As it is, I don't. Well, the spirit I agree, but not the full letter. I believe those countries you mention observe us with concern as we have teetered very close to becoming a powerful version of Hungary.

Let's not overlook the fact that those 2 countries also produce more than their fair share of fat, hairy blokes walking up and down the waters' edge with their guts hanging over lairy coloured budgie smugglers, having been on the beach/pool side at 5am to bag the best loungers. Real credit to their countries......

Stayed at a relatively posh hotel on holiday in the summer Becky. Picked said hotel, amongst other reasons, as it had less of an English presence (was lovely have to say). There were a number of Europeans staying there from a variety of countries.

I was a bit disappointed in myself given I had not got into quite the shape I usually do for the summer (was ill for much of last year TBF) however given the rest of the clientele it was nice to be made to feel like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale every time I went to the pool

Chatter out there from fairly reliable sources that enough letters have been received for Truss to face a leadership challenge although supposedly not being implemented, just yet, with it being expressed that they want over 50% of Tory MP's to have done so before they will start the process.

Truss is the sacrificial lamb. If they can keep her in place for as long as possible, she can take most of any additional blame with her.
Trouble is, there are no outstanding candidates for a new leader. Perhaps one final dip into the trough of expenses, before a General Election and a change in tack.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Genuinely don't know. Am convinced the Tories actually want to stand to one side and let Labour take the grief that is coming along with the blame for getting us back into the EU.

You put forward an outlandish suggestion. However, in today's political climate, anything seems possible (except financial stability)

Well quite. But lets imagine the decision has been reached to take us back into the EU (which I believe it has). Which party decides to do that is going to incur significant wrath.

For the Tories, it destroys them. For Labour, it pleases their core membership.

Hence the Tories will stand to one side.

We are a joke of a democracy.

The new de-facto PM who seems to have permission to run the country from someone is even more illegal than Truss.

Only 18 votes in the leadership contest, now he has been catapulted above all the others who got more votes than him.

Why don't they mind?

Because of their self-interest as they have misruled the country for 12 years.

Anything, absolutely anything must be done to avoid the voters.

While obviously I regard the Labour party as a hot mess in just about every department I will concur that I regard Truss as an example of considerable over promotion and a fall in the merit required....evidence of how social liberalism has infected conservatism....Thatcher became leader out of ability and merit at a time where that was the over-riding requirement...Truss was one of Cameron's picks and was protected all the way through to the cabinet....I'm quite convinced that if Truss were male then she'd be little more than a middle manager....for her it's been an example of right time, right place and failing upwards.

However, while Hunt has the mental ability I think you are spot on when you highlight that this guy has zero mandate in terms of support.....He's disliked within the party itself both grass roots and MPs.

The Tories are rudderless at the moment and it's all their own doing.....which is what happens when few of them actually believe in anything other than being a party of power.

Hardly surprising as German and Dutch men on holiday in Spain are more likely to have slogans on their T shirts in their own language not yours
