We both have an immigrant heritage, as does everyone in the UK. Immigration has always happened. It's nothing new, just as objections to it aren't anything new. I don't suppose the Romans or the Normans were welcomed with open arms, let alone the Vikings! It goes in waves, and takes time to settle down. My parents were both strongly opposed to those who arrived in the 50s and 60s, from the Caribbean, India and Africa.
