Anyone got any good links to European country graphs of deaths, or better, daily deaths for those bell curves? Italy are beginning to open shops. Bars in France are closed until July. If this is the outcome in this country this will somewhat disastrous as far as I am concerned, seeing that I enjoy a tipple or two on a fairly regular basis in establishments which serve such products. Not forgetting of course the substantial damage to the businesses that offer this valuable service. I am getting increasingly irascible with head hung like a despondent mule.Whilst I sit as one frustrated hombre I am only too aware that there are those in a far worse position having lost loved ones to this deadly disease and others whose loved ones are in a serious condition.

I am sure there are many who have claimed very little but there will be others, imo, who have claimed unnecessarily. David Lanny £1428 for stationery for a March banner! He is our alternative cabinet and government.

I was expecting or hoping either early or late June on a lot of the lockdown and there will be other restrictions as we go and this summer will be very uneventful. The economic argument is growing as expected.

The economic argument is growing as expected. To my mind there is a trade-off between the short-term needs of the NHS and the medium-term needs of the economy,on which the NHS itself depends. Whilst of course there are economic considerations there are other factors like mental health, domestic abuse etc etc. There are scores of people exceedingly worried about their jobs and businesses, families are not able to unite, people are having to remain in apartment blocks with small room space and no gardens and all of these factors come into play. I think you need to prepare yourself for disappointment. Our expectations are being managed to keep people from getting too despondent but don't raise your hopes just yet. With so much remaining unknown about the availability of a reliable antibody test and whether reinfection is possible, nothing can be really accurately anticipated. So these are only my best guesses at the moment. I cannot see pubs being opened again this year. Some restaurants perhaps where social distancing restrictions can be maintained but not anywhere where they cannot. I think it will be the same with shops, although the whole way we shop is likely to have been changed for ever by this. There won't be any mass gatherings at all until the nation has been vaccinated. So sport only on screen, behind closed doors. A slow relaxation on work, where it's safe to do so, might start in a month or so, but with controls over public transport and the age groups able to participate. Most people who can work from home will continue to do so. Schools will probably re-open though, once the peak has passed. It will cause too many social problems not to do so. As holidays will have to be spent at home this year I am wondering if the summer break will be shortened and schools kept opened with a more relaxed curriculum established. Higher education maybe not just yet, especially where students have to live away from home and are in close communities. This is going to be a long haul. Especially for those of us over retirement age who I suspect will be asked to stay locked down like this until this time next year.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
