If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck it probably is a duck...British/european do not indulge in child marriage/rape of children (in most cases), asian, muslim pakistani do, so if they live in uk they must follow uk rules/laws...or do you think they should be allowed to do as they wish?? You are a strange priveleged person wissy, very strange! Edited by the silurian (08 Mar 2020 9.16am) What's wrong with it? It isn't a duck. It's a person, innocent until proven guilty living in Britain under British law. Not in pakistan. Not anywhere in Asia. Of course they must abide by British law. As we all must. Including you.

Evidence of actual house sales, and not estimated "values" designed to attract sellers:- Truro:- Redruth:-

and the perpetrator is away in the wind...did he get arrested( on suspicion at least)??? You know as well as we do that nothing will happen to the perpetrator, because they have TR and in the minds of the police thats what matters Like it or not no-one ought ever to take the law into their own hands. We have CCTV to assist the Police. who will do their job even if a scumbag is making the complaint.

House prices is not a good indicator of wealth or poverty. "Disposal income" is a much better guide assuming you can agree on what that phase means.

Average house prices of an area are an indication of level of wealth, but not specific to individual circumstances. I think, as other posters have said, if you saw something happening to a friend/relative, your first instinct is to intervene,.. then call the police. I have intervened in a post office raid (many years ago) where a perpetrator was about to assault a female member of staff. Calling the police was an after-thought. The guys fcked-off, and no-one was hurt.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

The average house price sale over the year is certainly higher than the 270,000 you gave and is closer to around 300,000. Indeed, the data I gave from Zoopia seems perfectly accurate to me and shows an actual house price sale of £309,692. Still, considerably higher than the national average.....As for waffling about Redruth....You're the one with Truro written as your location. You sir, live in a filtered white and wealthy part of the country and what I said was accurate.

I'd say it's a reasonable correlation, if not an exact one. I suspect that 'disposal income' and the house price area correlate more than don't. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Mar 2020 10.13am)

That allegations are made is not the same as anyone been found guilty. You have only to read the threads here to realise that. That senior Police officers might have been pressured by politicians in the past to overlook things seems very likely to me. Should that be proven then they need, of course, to be held to account. The recent exposure of Cyril Smith raises questions. Standards in public life are like everything else. They evolve and hopefully improve as a consequence. Ever heard of Carl Beech? Making lurid claims is easy. Whether they are true is another matter. Yes I’ve heard of him. I’ve also heard of Carl Bernstein who did a good job of showing those politicians you’re so fond of defending aren’t always above reproach.

I referenced the report this week which provides some of those stats but it was my "friend" who decided to go off at a tangent and try to present a distorted picture. Here it is again:-

If you saw somebody actually trying to assault someone then I think it would be instinctive to try to stop them if you could. Getting involved after the act, as a way of retribution, especially when you are personally related to the alleged victim is quite another thing. Some seem to think it's OK but I don't. Pitching in with your fists is never OK and will rightly get you into trouble.

I think you will find I criticise politicians every bit as much as I defend them. I mostly defend their role in our democracy but not necessarily as individuals. That depends on their performance.
