Making sure that MP's are not hindered at this time makes sense, although I really doubt too many will be claiming anything let alone £10,000. I would hope every company able to would also support their staff if, for any reason, they needed to buy something as it will pretty minimal in most cases. If I understand things correctly the £6 allowance is just for any extra electricity etc. A more relevant question for me is whether other key public servants who must now work from home are able to also avail of such support if needed.

Certainly Becky questioned why they need extra money to be able to work from home when surely they have the necessary tools already, a point I agree with. All must have a constituency office, which they would be allowed to travel to, if they are considered critical workers. Moreover I stand by my previous comments about the timing of this announcement I think the instruction is to only travel to work if you cannot work from home. It cannot therefore be justified to use a constituency office, apart from the fact that many MP's don't live right on the doorstep so would have to drive unnecessarily.

Yes. The electricity you need to plug in the laptop you brought home from work. The same way that an MP working from home would.

Hilarious. Well not really. Are you an ex-MP? You post 40 posts a day during Brexit telling us how they’re free to decide what they do and how they do it despite manifestos, party policy or their constituents and now this bull.

So if and when an MP claims this you will fully support them whatever their persuasion? How many will not have the necessary tools at home already? None I suspect

Oh, no doubt. That’s why they’re held in such universally high esteem. They’re fabulous. They don’t even speak badly of each other. My bad!

The companies of people working from home will provide them with the tools of the trade. I’ve had to provide desks and chairs not just computers and screens for some. Anyone who previously worked from a constituency office or used HoP resources will now have to make alternative arrangements. Not just for themselves but also their staff. If they need to buy kit, they’ve been given a cap. They will then have to justify any spend. I feckin hate the press with it’s faux outrage and nastiness. Most people do their best in any job. Moving on, nothing to see here.

If anything it backs up my position as that support is there for every member and not via a party organisation. If you think what I wrote is "bull" then I seriously suggest you take a long hard look in the mirror!

There is an organisation we pay to do that for us. It's their job to decide if any claim is justified and the press will be all over it too. MPs these days have to be ridiculously careful not to include anything that could even raise questions.

Apparently we need to follow crucial safety procedures when opening Coca Cola bottles. When did life get so scary? And who can I blame?

If you think what I wrote is "bull" then I seriously suggest you take a long hard look in the mirror! Because you seem to spend half of your life defending and building up the elitism of MP’s. I didn’t say they didn’t need our support. Actually what ‘support’ do they really need apart from us following the rules coming from cabinet? My grievance is with the MP’s you just know are going to start claiming far more than is necessary to cover the costs of working in an open plan kitchen or already set up office. What are they going to need? The finest ergonomic desk chairs from Harrods? They also won’t need any travel expenses they will have previously been claiming. It’ll be blatantly taking advantage.
