Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea to name but a few. Crowds can sway a board quickly. Ask those who lost their seats in the Holmesdale. I understand the general point you are making but I am gummed to my position apropos the specific point you raised regarding Mr Hodgson and our crowds at Selhurst Park.

Wilo, you are very niaev if you think Crowds don't have some bearing on Chairmen/ Boards manager decisions.

How can your point about Hodgson and crowds at Selhurst have any meaning when it is an event that hasn’t happened yet? You are professing to know an outcome to a future event. You haven’t got the lottery numbers have you?

My comments weren't intended to give any such impression. The retinue of close friends of the 'Stately ornament' that is Steve Parish does not include 'Yours truly'.

One thing for certain, If the crowds were allowed to attend games over the last few months, Roy would have been gone by now .

Would there really be that bad a reaction at SP to all of this? I'm very much dissatisfied with what I have been seeing and am not shy at games but I would not be inclined to give too much grief to Roy or the players, especially whilst we're still not technically safe. I would have thought (only my opinion) it would be more murmurs and grunts as opposed to fully fledged vitriol, the type that would influence the higher ups. Last time I can really recall any ferocity from the crowd at Selhurst was when we were 4-0 down to Sunderland.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

My understanding was that the comments suggested that had there been crowds at Selhurst Park, the antipathy of the crowd would have swayed the 'Board' to make a decision and my response was to the contrary.

One of my friends is one of Steve Parish's oldest friends, they went to school together. And Steve doesn't share any inside Palace info with him. Otherwise I could be ' In The Know ' !

Roy has many flaws but over the balance of his tenure he has kept us in the league with his tactics. We now have the biggest injury list in the division and if you all remember just after Xmas last year we had a worse injury crisis and this has been the case over the last few years but we always managed to pick up enough points. Our defence last night basically picked itself so I'm not sure what else he could have done with the back 4. As far as I am concerned not 1 of that back 4 is good enough to be playing regulary. We had 3 fit centre midfield players last night and I dont think it would have mattered which 2 he started. I like most am bored with the football and Eze is the only player keeping me sane at the moment but Roy will not be leaving before the end of the season and a lot of you will need to brace yourselves because there is every chance he will still be here next season. I would like him to go at the end of the year but only if it is for someone better. Our squad is in dire straits and if the wrong person comes in with no financial backing then we will be relegated.
Success will lie to you but failure always tells you the truth. |

To those who argue Hodgson is getting the maximum of the players at his disposal, would a Brendan Rodgers employ similar tactics with those same players?

My advice, for what it is worth, is to never give the merest impression of being "In the know" on HOL as it only attracts negative comments.
