Hodgson's role is about getting the best out of the players at his disposal. Some on here think he is, some don't.

Anybody on a 12 month contract is hardly in a position to be the main driver for the direction of the club - which is Parish's responsibility in any case.

I certainly agree that a gradual rebuild would have been the way to go, but as I have repeatedly said before, the club has been run through a short term lens when it comes to the first team squad. Now it's becoming a far bigger problem than it should have been.

I garland these comments with praise.

Parish cannot let Roy wait until July before he makes his decision, it has to be made now, and if its a no he should go with immediate effect, how can players decide on signing a new contract without knowing, we are not going to get relegated this season, so we can replace Roy, and start building for next season

All I will assert is that one suspects that conversations with various parties have been taking place behind the scenes.

I would go along with that. I do think that for the sake of moral Hodgson , is mostly positive when talking about this squad, but a man of his experience knows that he has got as much as is possible
out of them . He may because of his age , not consider going else where , but the club know ,and he must that it is time to bite the bullet, as to gearing up for the future.
None of this really reflects poorly on Hodgson, in the circumstances he has kept us in the big league , and that’s an achievement in my opinion. But change is needed if the club is to gain not only a higher position in the league, but a higher regard from all those , fans TV pundits, pro,s, that look on.

You would like to think so, so if that is the case has the new manager signed pre contract, and if so is involved with the contract expiry situation.

I am not able to provide an answer.

One thing for certain, If the crowds were allowed to attend games over the last few months, Roy would have been gone by now .

To be honest I have not heard a shred of evidence to suggest that any adverse crowd reaction would have had any bearing on the position of the manager.

So you basically agree with me except that you consider Hodgson more a coach than a manager, that he has no responsibility other than coaching the first team and therefore Parish is more to blame than Hodgson.

I would agree with you entirely if I thought another manager couldn’t do better than Hodgson with the current team, but as you say, some do and some don’t.

Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea to name but a few. Crowds can sway a board quickly. Ask those who lost their seats in the Holmesdale.

I can believe this could have happened. But I feel in or out we'd still be playing pretty much the same tbh so whether we'd be any better off I don't know.

The position of Head Coach at this club is the sole responsibility of Parish, I for one am not expecting any change for the foreseeable future as it is normal on both transfers, contracts and appointments for Parish to make these within 24 hours of the new season starting. Hence the reason he pulled himself from "Dragons Den", he could not stand having to make a decision within the timeframe set by the programme!
