To me, the Letwin agreement forces scrutiny of the Johnson 'rigmarole'. Just passed I hear...

How can Parliament have confidence in a PM that refuses to listen to it? Wow! I agree with your last paragraph! I suspect he is just playing with words. Sending a letter might not be, in his mind, starting a negotiation, which is what he said he won't do. I guess he will write it and also separate letters to each EU leader telling them he doesn't actually want an extension and asking them not to agree to one. The most important thing here is, I think, that this gives Parliament the opportunity to pass amendments to the bills to lock in the securities they need. I think this deal will eventually go through, perhaps amended to require a final approval by the people in a referendum. If that is done by Oct 31, or looks as if it could be done a week or two later, then I think the EU would grant the extension. Just my immediate thoughts. Lot's yet could happen.

So what next? Johnson will have another go probably on Tuesday, in the meantime I guess he will be trying to woo some more MPs. I assume he will ask for the extension as per the Benn act however the EU don't have to act on the request immediately. If I was the EU I would sit on the request until after Tuesday. If Johnson wins the vote no need for it if he loses then the EU will have to decide if they want to give an extension. Just my guess as to what may happen.

Parliament has just said 'we don't trust you'. My complaint would actually be against the 306 MPs who voted against Letwin.

If I was them I would hold off for a couple of days in case they don't have to make a decision. As for Letwin it is a wrecking amendment pure and simple. If you don't like the deal fine vote against it but this is the same old BS from "some" MPs who are hiding behind it rather than saying that they will never vote for Brexit. Parliament can get this deal through before 31 Oct if they want to, they don't. I can understand the SNP and too some extent the Lib Dems it's the lot who say they respect the result of the referendum but... when clearly they don't respect it. Still all to play for.

You gotta love the Biased Bullshyte Corruption on their coverage of 'alledged' MILLION marchers in London with picture cobbeled together from 5 different marches over 3 years mostly in different cities/towns. NO mention of the leavers marches anywhere Hmmm?
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
