On a more serious note I think many people are probably underestimating...thanks to media messaging.....the high probability that technology will emerge....some of which is already here that can work against climate change. It is not a static situation and lots of R&D is already invested. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 May 2022 1.24pm) I don't doubt that technology will help. GM will allow us to produce drought and heat resistant crops, but, of course, some will resist them too. There isn't a simple, one step, solution. We won't stop climate change, but we can reduce it and mitigate its impact, by employing all the skills we have.

Sleepy joe was running his mouth off again, this time over Taiwan. As I predicted, despite what his sleepy versions on here think, there is now massive concern over China.....not surprising. Common sense tells....well those with common sense just how dangerous things are now. WH have once again had to clarify his comments by saying he meant military support not boots on the ground over a conflict. Can you imagine the Democratic media if this had been Trump? Imagine if Putin had said that he was going to militarily respond to western arms, or Finland, or Turkey and the Russian foreign ministry or Lavrov had to constantly correct the record. The press would be saying Moscow is in chaos or a coup. Yet Biden gets a pass because the truth is the whole administration is incompetent and most of the media are lackeys......the only real hope is in the Pentagon. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 May 2022 11.36pm) Your cynicism ought not be a surprise, but I suspect this is a very deliberate ploy to keep the Chinese guessing. It's not the first time a US President has said something, only for the State Department to say something else. Whilst I have no more certainty than anyone else, I don't believe the Chinese will use military force to take Taiwan. I am though even firmer in my belief that the USA would not get directly involved if they did. Condemnation, token sanctions of some kind, but nothing else. Taiwan isn't Europe. It's surrounded by sea and not bordered by Nato countries.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I am though even firmer in my belief that the USA would not get directly involved if they did. Condemnation, token sanctions of some kind, but nothing else. Taiwan isn't Europe. It's surrounded by sea and not bordered by Nato countries. The US isn't Europe either. Apparently, according to you race doesn't matter, so the European racial connection to Europe shouldn't matter should it?...that's guys like me who have some honesty.....No your lot are all about Also, what you seem to forget are the massive investments the US have in Taiwan and the security aspects involved with Japan and the region generally. However, I don't deny that 'boots on the ground' would be unlikely in a Taiwanese war.....then again, actually saying that is stupid because it allows your opponent more certainty in calculation. Biden actually making a statement of military support means the White House have to clarify and that's about as dim as it gets. Trump's unpredictability was a significant asset in a world that's increasingly polarised and resource driven....Having Biden in there makes the Taiwanese war a lot more likely, just as it manifested the Ukrainian. China know that this is their best chance....the US is highly divided and has a weak low IQ untalented administration that can't run anything competently let alone coordinate a war.....they can only throw money....80 percent of all the US dollars in circulation were printed in the last two years. Trump was bad on that front but Biden has been worse. The US economy is hardly in a place to, rather selectively, behave as the world's policeman when its pockets are empty and its people are suffering terrible inflation......pursuing a ridiculous self harming cold war and throwing money at the Ukraine while it can't even run its own baby feed supply. As I originally stated having Biden in the White House significantly increased the likelihood of these wars....a denial of that is making excuses for your own lack of clarity....in you, well your hatred of Trump clouded your judgement. Vote Democrat and get your never ending wars. This is the guy you preferred and the world is suffering because of it and all you and your brethren have are lame contentions and doubtful excuses.

Wrong thread really, sorry! (Gas price related, centreing in on the big drop in wholesale prices here but no real capacity to storage it anymore, so we sell cheaply abroad now, and import at sky high prices when we actually need it)

The only thing not factual in that are their opinions which some posters always use to counter someones ability to show the facts. Wonder their take on the facts of this article.

RIP One day, people in this country will realise why gun rights were written into the US constitution and it's not much to do with protecting your property. The most powerful people in the world simply love guns and for good reason.
