That doesn't mean it isn't linked in this case. The fact is that United fans felt he was their hero. He showed no remorse and their club as a whole embraced tried to play the victim, which stokes up the feelings of the scumbags who ultimately killed Nixon. It's not the only reason, and it's not a direct response, but it did increase the tension and animosity between the two clubs.
Edited by Username (12 Jun 2017 5.12pm) Galtier speaks excellent english, and would fully understand the ramofications, amd of course I am sure Parish would go into all of that in the process!

Galtier has gone to 25/1 to 20/1. De boer now 2nd favourite at 7/1. Pellegrino has drifted to 9/1 although still think it might be him as new manager.

We all know that there was bad blood between Man Utd and Palace at the time because of the Cantona and Simmons incident (Simmons was a racist and fascist and him being Palace doesn't change that). I was young at the time but I do remember there was a changed atmosphere around games. However, Cantona is himself not solely responsible for the trouble that followed including the death of Paul Nixon. The EVENT was significant but If you think you can blame Cantona for Nixon's death you're being daft. It is even more daft to suggest a reason to discount a potential manager for Palace is due to his connection to Cantona; an individual who is thus even further removed from the situation at the time and the death of Paul Nixon.

Correct. Chaos theory innit. Suffice it to say that Cantona's antics had more of an effect than a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil.

OK, I would like to draw a line under the whole Cantona/Simmons incident and the death of Paul Nixon on this thread. These two incidents really have little to do with who the next Palace manager will be and that is the subject of this thread. Who knows whom is really irrelevant. Whoever the new manager is, Cantona is smart enough to know he is not welcome at Selhurst Park and I sincerely doubt he even wants to show his face there. Paul Nixon's murder is also unrelated and shouldn't be banded about in this manner. Please, let's not revisit this criminal tragedy that justice has so far failed to resolve. Beside, just because B followed A doesn't mean A caused B.

I want to read about the new manager not this tiresome argument.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Getting Worried' by kenbarr I don't know about everyone else but I am starting to get concerned now for the new season. Surely if BFS was still here we would have released/transfer listed more fringe players whilst so having identified potential ins if not already signed a couple. The new man is going to have to analyse the team then make decisions on who to let go and which areas need improving all taking time. With the season we have just had surely we wanted to start the summer in better shape and being prepared. The fixtures are released on Wed and other teams are buying players all be it the big at present. Options on the manager front seem to be running out and as it stands at present instead of us looking up the league for a top 10 finish I think we could well have another struggle on our hands if a new man is not appointed soon. It has also been so quiet from the club on both BFS leaving and us looking for a new man. Does no one have any inside knowledge anymore. Concerned supporter.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Getting Worried' by kenbarr I'm concerned but only Silva has slipped by. There are still currently other choices. But you're right we're letting time pass us by. A new thread possibly unneeded.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Getting Worried' by kenbarr Don't worry yourself, haven't you seen all the photos in the press of players on holiday. Nothing is happening regarding transfers, just rumours.

According to Jeff Stelling being interviewed regarding his Charity walk on Talksport this morning, Sean Dyche only returned from his holiday in Florida yesterday and he was to join him on his walk tomorrow

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Getting Worried' by kenbarr I disagree I think transfers are happening behind the scenes and are just not public knowledge till around July time. You say Silva is the only one that has slipped by name other candidates that you think are still possible/likely to want to come to Palace. Also yes I do think Sammy Lee is good but there are players like Sako, Chung Young Lee that spring to mind are still on our books I am sure if BFS was here they would have been gone. Just think we are wasting valuable time but I suppose we will see in the coming weeks and at the end of the season. What do I know I am only a fan.
